Do I really need to provide a full 6-month bank statement for a Thai tourist visa application?

I will apply for the tourist visa in Ho Chi Minh, and on the proof of funds requirement it says:

"2.6. Evidence of adequate finance

* Showing transaction not less than 6 months."

Are they serious asking to see my full bank transaction statement for the last 6 months (about 20 pages)?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The requirement for a tourist visa application in Ho Chi Minh includes providing proof of adequate finances, specifically a bank statement covering your transactions for the last 6 months. While some users express frustration with this apparent overreach in documentation, others point out that the specific requirements may vary, and it's essential to provide evidence of adequate balance (minimum 20,000 Baht) along with your transaction history. Several commenters recommend ensuring that only necessary details are shown in the bank statements to protect privacy and comply with the requirements.

Final question. On their website it says your tourist visa application needs a photo (one), but on the form it says two. How many pictures are really needed for Tourist Visa?

I sent in a screen shot of my internet home page with a balance 100x what they require and they rejected and insisted I send in 6 months of statements. It's infuriating, but what can you do?*

I received this response from HCMC yesterday when I asked for clarification:

For the bank statement, the applicant needs to submit:

1 document showing the transactions within 6 months

1 document showing that the current account has an equivalent of 20.000 Baht

You can ask the bank to issue the documents 1 week before applying for the visa.

Don't forget to pre-book your appointment

I don’t think they want to see all transactions just your balance for 6 months

Yes: the Immigration officials are pedantic

Failure to provide can result in delay or, subject to their discretion, rejection.

Thai people LOVE paperwork, the more the better, they won't look at it, but as the size of the stack of papers increase, so will your chances of getting your vusa approved. Digital copies dont matter, thay want PAPER

Alternatively, you can try a get a eVisa from the Thai consulate in your home country, instead. Maybe their requirements are less intrusive and the whole process of obtaining a visa is more streamlined this way.

I believe you have to show every page of your passport for the eVisa, so they can see you are in your home country when you apply.

Being in your home country for some consulates isn't a requirement - as maybe you just want to apply for your next trip, already. Traveling from your home country is, at times. But that can be "established" with some sort of travel itinerary. Once a visa is obtained, the port of entry does not matter, though.

the ONLY consulate it's not a requirement for is Germany.

So, the question then is: How / where to make copies of all passport pages after being stamped out of Thailand, but before stamped into a third country again. 😂 Visa application „on the fly“ so to speak. 😂

Like everything Thai immigration related: way over the top (and every office making up their own crap). Especially for a simple TR tourist visa. But what can you do? Make sure you blacked everything out except the periodical balances, though. Transactions are non of their freaking business.

They want to see you've had money in your account for the last 6 months, not just added there yesterday.

Cool, I will just use my savings account then that is pretty much just interest in transactions. Backup is WISE if they want to go down that route.
