Hi all, have anyone recently done covid extension? My STV Visa is about to expire on 02 September (2 extensions already). Could someone help me a little bit? 😊

1. When can I do my Covid extension, I have been told that 2 weeks before expire, but I also find information that I can do it anytime.

2. If I do extension now, will I lose my remaining days on STV Visa, or it will be 60 days + from 02 September?

3. What documents/photo copies are exactly required for covid extension?

4. Do I need TM.30 Notification in signed or printed photo/ screenshot from website is okay?

5. I headed that sometimes they want A embassy letter from home country’s embassy in Thailand depending on reason of extension? So what reason should I put to avoid that "Tourism"?😅

I will appreciate any help! Thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is inquiring about applying for a COVID extension for their STV Visa, which is set to expire on September 2. They have questions regarding the timing for the extension application, the impact on the remaining days of the visa, necessary documents, the TM.30 Notification requirement, and how to best state their reason for extension to avoid issues.

I thought there was a way to leverage your STV for 9 months? And also research that you can infact get a Covid Extension from a STV. I was in Cheang Wattana BKK yesterday and the person next to me was on their 10th Covid Extension. I heard the Officer say: It's no problem to get another one. Sometimes my Hotel can't get the TM. 30 (not sure why) and they give me a signed letter to say I've paid and staying there- this suffices. All other paperwork should be available at the Office.

We don't know that, as of now the last day to apply for it is August 24th.

You’ll need this stuff. Not all offices have the same requirements so it may be slightly different depending on which of the 70+ offices you use.

A copy of your passport data page (signed),

A passport photo,

Proof of filing a TM30,

A copy of your departure card (TM6) (signed)

A copy of your latest entry stamp (signed)

A copy of any previous Covid extension stamps (signed) (Phuket requires this other offices may not)

In Phuket they require the copies to be in portrait not landscape. This means the top of your passport aligns along the shorter side of the A4. Except for the Data Page where most passports are “sideways”

(Other offices may not be as pedantic)

A filled out TM7 (application form for extensions) - the form doesn’t have a space for your email or phone number but just write it on the back (page 2).

A filled out STM2 (acknowledgement of terms of temporary stay)

A filled out “I don’t want to leave because of Covid form” - I have no idea if it has an official name or number.

And 1,900 baht.

The forms are available at your local office. Most have places on site or nearby that can do the copies and photos.

Many offices will give you a “under consideration” stamp requiring you to return somewhere from 5-14 days later where they will stamp for the remaining 60 days. If they do you MUST use the same office to “close out” that stamp. For example you cannot get a “under consideration” stamp from Bangkok and close that out in Chiang Mai 15 days later.

If it’s your first time applying for the extension they’ll date it from the day you apply, so you’d lose any remaining days you have on your current stamp. Subsequent applications would possibly be added on to the existing stamp.

Hi, is TM30 always required? My hotel has given me a confirmation of hotel reservation however keeps telling me they don't need to give me a copy of TM30.

Hotel said they have registered us with immigration but can not give us a copy and going around in circles, this wasn't an issue at last hotel.

Thanks

They don’t understand that the TM30 system doesn’t give receipts so you just use a screenshot of them having filed for you. Use that as proof. You may find an office that doesn’t require it but I’m not aware of any.
