TLDR : Answer Summary
The Liverpool consulate may only issue 3-month multiple-entry visas, and applicants must mail their applications to London for a 12-month METV. While some users reported that printed bank statements without official stamps were accepted, it is generally recommended to provide official statements mailed from the bank.

When I got my METV (in Hull) they were fine with ‘official’ bank statements that had come through the post (rather than print outs from online banking). I spoke to my bank and they said that they don’t do official stamps any more and just to use posted statements for visas generally.

This is a copy and paste from Sue at the Liverpool Consulate earlier this year “ Consulates can no longer issue 12 month multiple entry visas and we would only be able to give you a 3 month visa and you can then make a 12 month visa in Thailand. Alternatively, you can send your application by post to London and they will issue the 12 month visa”

Hope that helps

Your correct. I've been out of the UK for too long. It's $7000.

I also found this for anybody applying for visas between now and into November

, using single entry visas at some point is gonna come back and bite you one way or another. Either you're gonna get a warning stamp from a consulate from hitting it too many times, or you're gonna get grilled comin' in because of your visa history.

A METV is definitely the way to go. I don't know a single person who's ever been questioned entering on a 6 month METV from ANY border crossing or by air.

You cannot get a 12 month ME Visa in the UK unless you are 65 and over plus drawing a state pension. A 6 month ME Visa along with official bank statements showing a balance of at least £7k over the previous 6 months, also requires a verifiable letter from your employer stating your employed. Self employed need verifiable accounts. Consulates cannot issue ME entry visas. They have to obtain approval from London since early last year.

I will be getting married in january anyways and ive been offered a permanent job as an english teacher so the visas will change again i expect

@James ******
yes an Metv allows you to come and go. A regular visa also allows that *if* you pay for a re-entry permit before leaving Thailand and assuming your visa has validity for your return dates.

Personally I'd just use single entry visas. You can use them more years and years with no restriction. Whereas the 6 month metv requires significant hassle.

Yes thats what i meant i can leave as many times as i like i dont just have to leave every 60 days

@James ******
the 6 month METV has a validity of 6 months from when you first use it, you can stay 60 days per entry, you can also do one 30 day extension per entry, however the optimal usage is to leave Thailand and re-enter just before the "valid to" date which gets you a 60 day entry just before the visa expires, then do a 30 day extension on that final entry. This gets you almost 9 months stay here in Thailand.

@Ste***
the OP was talking about an METV which is a tourist visa.

non imm OA can be had from london but need docs cert and funds to show in uk bank

@Sean *******
maybe that’s where my confusion is come about as I was asking in Liverpool about a 12 month multiple entry non imm O, not a tourist visa

Sean what do you mean by careful border bounces as i was told by someone on here you can do as many border bounces as you like and provided i leave and enter thailand before the enter before date i can still get 9 months
Sean ********
There has never been a 12 month tourist visa. The relatively new METV (multi entry tourist visa) has only ever been valid for 6 months. With careful border bounces you can get almost 9 months out if it, but it is still a 6 month visa.
