ORIGINAL POSTER
Out of curiousity i have approached the Thai consulate it GLASGOW regarding 6 month METVs. Below requirement is what i was sent by email from them and then i reconfirmed twice regarding the proof of funds requirement.

TOURIST VISA – MULTIPLE ENTRY - FEE £150 - valid for 6 months from date of issue and each entry being valid for 60 days.

Supporting documents required for multiple entry only:-

(a) Original bank statement showing a balance of at least £5000 or a print-out with official stamp of the bank.

(b) A letter from your employer confirming your employment addressed to the Royal Thai Consulate and confirming you will be returning to employment after your holiday.

(c) If you are self-employed, your self assessment HMRC SA100 for the last year and a company registration document.

(d) Photocopy of confirmed air ticket.

(e) Photocopy of hotel reservation in Thailand.

With regards to section (a) they confirmed only requirement is a balance of £5000 in UK account is required on day of application and visa will be granted same day. No requirement for 6 months statements maintaining £5000 - this for some people i think is alot more convenient.

Can anyone confirm if the Glasgow consulate has gave them any problems in the past of if they are smooth to process?

I will be heading there when home in August to obtain this, have never had a visa in 5 year just always went in with 30 day waiver and never stayed more than 28 days (to suit rotation) but now think the time is right to do so especially when i will be back in Scotland anyway next month.

My only real concern is regarding accomodation... Should i just provide my rental agreement? Or should i just make a hotel reservation with free cancellation and then cancel after visa accepted to make life easy? I dont know if this would then get picked up on at a later date when TM30 does not tie in?

Most consulates/embassys i looked at or read on here requested 6 month of statements which doesnt always suit. Also Glasgow is the most convenient for me as i tend to visit home annually anyway.

Thanks in advance for any advice.
