Hi all. Iโve just extended my yearly visa by the Retirement method with 800,000 in the bank. I have to go back in 3 months to prove I still have the required balance, and they (Nakhon Phanom immigration) want to see my bank book and a copy of the same. My question is, do I need anything else? I have been told by a friend that I will need a letter from the bank too - is that true?
Any advise or help to stop me having to queue at a busy IO twice would be greatly appreciated

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user successfully extended their retirement visa in Thailand and seeks advice on additional documents needed for verification in three months. There are mixed opinions on needing a bank letter; while some suggest just updating the bank book is sufficient, others recommend confirming directly with the immigration office.

As a rule (meaning as in most offices) they do not require you to get a new bank letter, just update your bank book on the date you go back, make a copy of that page and show up with those and your passport

Here in Chiang Mai they always asked for a Bank statement as well
you need update your bank book so it shows the balance on the date you go back, not the day before. So that won't work.

Well IF your friend also gets their year extension based on retirement from nakhon phanom and said that's what they needed I'd say get it. Face it a bank letter is like 200 baht IF the bank charges you.
