I thank you for this post, because you have shown me option number two ~ which says over 65,000 b a h t per month is all you require - you do not need 800,000 baht in a bank account. I'm going to check on this and help my friends who have a good income but do not want to have 800,000 Baht sitting in a bank account - this is the first time I've seen this option to do the Visa yourself for less than 2000bt..🤗
in order to use the 65.000.- THB "income proof", this depends if your embassy in Bangkok can issue an "affidavit of income", as this is the requirement on immigration. If you are a citizen of a country, whose embassy doesn't issue the affidavit any more (USA, UK, AUS) then you need proof from your bank of incoming from abroad 65.000.- THB, month for month, over a period of 12 months
just double check with your immigration office first

I think they just change the rules all the time to make sure that enough people have to use a "visa consultant" to help things go through...

As it’s been said many times, the requirements depend on the office. I moved the required funds to Thailand and applied to change my tourist visa to Non-O for retirement at the Chiang Mai office merely days later. The application was accepted and I was told to go back at the end of the month to get the stamp.

a problem might arise when your bank needs a full week to supply the 12-month statement. The clock will start running!
That's why this year I will visit my immigration office Sisaket three (!) weeks ahead of the expiry of my extension.
Because my SCB local branch can't supply a 12-month statement on the same day, they can only print the "bank letter of guarantee" showing the recent 2 or 3 months on the same day.
They need to get the 12-month statement from their headquarters. Some banks can print the 12-month statement on the same day.
So I strongly advise to ask your bank how long they take, so you know how early or how late you can show up for your next application to the extension

I bet they mean an account statement covering one year by that. At least that is what is asked here in Chiang Mai for the last years. They want to see if you kept minimum account balance.
It's stated clearly in the document. 800,000 for 2 months before the extension and 3 months after (5 months total) and then can never drop below 400,000

0B left in the account for x number of months @ next to zero interest. Yeah/Nah. I'm getting 6% on call I wouldn't be in a hurry to transfer $$ over.
It says showing activities, not sure what they are looking for and its say 400k until visa expires, so I believe that means you can run down the 800k to 400k but it must be topped up again to 800k two months before the visa is renewed!

That guy that wrote an entire post arguing that an agent extension at Jomtien would be fine if you want to do yourself next year because Jomtien doesn't care if you have the 800,000 in your bank account after you get your visa and they won't check the 12 month bank statement. This seems to show the exact opposite 🤔
That's the point of using an agent then isn't it! I'm convinced there are so many requirements to encourage both those who can meet the requirements and those that can't to use agents, we ALL know why!
the bureaucracy is the same when dealing with most government departments in Thailand.
The requirements listed were pretty basic as well, the only difference from a tourist visa extension (which backpackers can figure out so mustn't be too complicated) is needing bank statements, bank book and a letter from your bank. It's really not that complicated
and the same rules apply! Yes, you might meet all the requirements but the agent in front of you or pushing in from behind with 20 passports in their hands or 20 applications for whatever it may be will take priority.
Because it's easier in America? Bureaucracy is bureaucracy worldwide. There's a lot more people that just get the list and provide what's asked for on their own. It's one day a year.
As do I. I just feel in the last 10 years, looking at Thailand in isolation, they have increased bureaucracy to push people towards using an agent for 1. Smoothing things over if requirements are not met 2. The cost of an agent is cheaper than losing a day of your time to bureaucracy. Either way, the people in uniforms get paid, those jobs and promotions don't come cheap!
I think they've increased the rules and requirements as more people break the rules and skirt the system. So today's agents are making it harder for people in the future.
bank in the morning for the 12 months statement & letter THB 200-, lunch then drop the necessary documents off mid afternoon and midweek (normally the best time for Jomtien)… pop in any time afternoon the next day and pick up the passport…
I agree 100%. Just confirms that the advice people ask for and receive here on FB and other social media sites is useless, deceptive and potentially expensive.
People need to get their advice from the correct source rather than from social media sites. Stop being lazy.
