Is a yearly bank statement sufficient for the retirement visa extension in Chiang Mai, or is proof of funds required?

Retirement-Extension - proof of funds. Just want to verify if the 800k for 3 months after the extension are really not required to be shown to Chiang Mai immigration (like for instance in Pattaya). Rather a yearly bank statement is sufficient for the next extension. Thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation revolves around the requirements for proving financial stability after receiving a retirement visa extension in Chiang Mai, specifically the 800,000 baht balance requirement. Users generally agree that a yearly bank statement is often sufficient and that, while Chiang Mai may allow flexibility, it is advisable to keep the 800,000 baht in the account for three months after the extension. Regular updates and adherence to rules are emphasized to avoid complications during future extensions.

Marcus...play it safe.

Keep the 800,000 Thb in your bank account three months after approval of extension.

You will be asked to provide a full year bank letter and bankbook at next year extension showing account balanced each month.

If you have not met the requirement...be prepared for possible denial of extension.

Most immigration offices do not require you to show back up 3 months after you get your yearly extension and show your updated bank book to prove the 800K baht is still in your account. The one's that do require you to show n updated bank book give you a piece of paper with the date on it you show back up.

AFAIK, Chiang Mai follows what
@Bo***
said, they will check the next time you get a new extension to make sure you kept the 800K baht in the account for 3 months & that the balance never went below 400K baht the rest of the year.

These are the rules, it will have consequences when you do not follow up as promised,

Yes, apparently that's how it works in CM.

. They may not ask you to show the 800k at the three month stage, but if you go for an extension in 12 months and the 800k was not in there for that full three month period, you'll be rejected next year.

I am in Chiang Mai. From what I know people in Pattaya have to present the bank book after 3 months again to immigration, for this they have to sign a specific letter at the time of extension. No such thing in CM and again what I heard is a yearly statement at the next extension is enough. But so far this is all hearsay, nobody could confirm one or the other.

Out of report, it was asked regular at different offices just after the this rule got introduced on 1 March 2019,

Pattaya and Bangkok still seem to irregular ask to sign the police order and come back after 90 days,

Yes, again, that was not the question. Do I have to show the bank book to imigration 3 months after extension like in Pattaya or is a yearly statement at then next extension sufficient?

Where do you live and is your address registered, you can not swap around to another office just because the officer is more nice on that day

I know the rules, however in CM it seems to be differently handled than in other places, that's why the question.

NO, it it i the same, You visit and apply for the Extension, you are able to show proof that the money is in the account 2 months prior your visit, but you are NOT able to show the money will till be there 3 month later and the rest of the year not less then 400,000 thb,,

You agree with this rule and you should make sure the money is there as the regulations,

To be sure...ASK CHIANG MAI IMMIGRATION.

Also note that the bank balance can NEVER be below 400,000.
