Sorry if this was asked before, can't seem to find a clear answer. What are the requirements for getting a one-year extension based on marriage (or being dependent) to a foreigner with a retirement visa/extension? Already have a Non-Imm O visa issued outside of Thailand. Does any proof of funds need to be provided? And how long does it take to get an extension? Do they give the "under consideration stamp" first? Thanks in advance ๐Ÿ™

TLDR : Answer Summary
To obtain a one-year extension based on marriage to a foreigner with a retirement visa (Non-Imm O), go to your local immigration office to get the latest requirements. Typically, no proof of funds is needed as a dependent. You must demonstrate your relationship with the primary visa holder. The extension process is usually completed quickly, often taking about an hour to receive the initial stamp after submitting your documents, and there may be an 'under consideration' period.

You have to go to your local immigration office to get the latest requirements. Usually not, but they might give you under-consideration period. You need to ask them about that too.

You need to prove your relationship with the primary person. You don't need to have funds as a dependent.

The first stamp of your extension will be granted on the spot. Wouldn't take much longer than a hour once you submit the documents to the officer.

These are the copy of requirements from immigration bureau site, but not the complete list. As I wrote, you need to go to your local office to get the latest handout.

thank you very much, that makes it simple. However we need to go to Bangkok immigration to get extention as the primary person got his stamp there, (we are not based in Bangkok )

if you filed a TM30 at your new address, have a lease, prove you actually live in the area served by the immigration office you should be able to get the extension from them IF you meet the requirements.

There shouldn't be any requirement that you get the extension from the same office the spouse got their retirement extension.

Who told you that you had to go to Bangkok to get your extension (which I don't think they'll do as you don't LIVE in bangkok anymore ๐Ÿ˜• ) What immigration office told you this?

the officer in Hua Hin immigration, when he saw the stamp, he told me right away I have to go to Bangkok to get the extention. Are you saying I won't be Ble to get it if we don't live in bangkok?

I'm thinking you should have pushed it and said you filed a Tm30, have a lease, LIVE in that area now and that Bangkok won't give you the extension because you don't live up here.

Immigration offices are region specific, you go to the one that serves the area where you live, you can't pick and choose where to go

I'd certainly go back and take it as high as you can there before you slog up here to try it that's for sure
