Hello all, I’m new to this group and this is my first post (so please be gentle😁). I’m from the USA and have been retired and living in the Philippines for the last few years. I am hoping to make a move to either Bangkok or Hua Hin next year, hopefully to stay for several years or more. My main concern has to do with long term visas, as I’m getting conflicting information regarding the requirements for long term stays. Looks like the Non-O Visa is the best and easiest to start with. BUT - I’m seeing some sites saying I need a 65,000 Bhat monthly income (which I have) PLUS 800,000 Bhat in a Thai bank. Other reports saying that if I have the 65K monthly I DON’T have to put the 800K into a Thai bank. Can anyone confirm which of these is true. Thanks very much for your input.
Answer summary
This post discusses the requirements for obtaining a long-term Non-O visa for retirement in Thailand, focusing on the conflicting information regarding financial requirements. Key points include the necessity of either 800,000 THB in a Thai bank account or a monthly income of 65,000 THB for financial proof. Comments confirm that for the first year, applicants typically need the 800,000 THB deposit, which must be seasoned for two months, but subsequent extensions may allow for income verification. Additional details note the processes involved in applying for the visa and establishing residency.
