Hello folks, has anyone recently applied from mainland China (Chinese citizen only) either with remote work or soft power? I got a DTV recently and want to help a friend (mainland Chinese citizen who has a fully remote stable job). Heard it takes long time. Any success stories? Thanks.

Hello, I'm happy to answer your question. I am a Chinese citizen. If your friend wants to return to China to apply for a visa, he needs to have a genuine remote employment contract and proof of employment to have a chance of obtaining a visa. Currently, a notarized certificate of no criminal record is also required. Ideally, he should have genuine bank statements, social security certificates, and tax payment certificates. He cannot leave China during the application period, as the embassy will cancel the applicant's visa if he does.

Thank you, Huimin, that’s helpful. Applying from within China is ok. She is a teacher (qualified) and teaches online. She has quite a few students and is paid by an agent who sources the students. Does she need to show monthly invoices and a co tract with this agent who then pays monthly based on the hours thought? On the criminal certificate, how long does it take to receive? She is Guangdong based. Bank statements ok. On social security and tax payment, what are they specifically called in Chinese, and is it actually mandatory? Thanks for your help!
