DTV APPROVED!
I’m an independent contractor (freelancer)
Applied through the Royal Thai Embassy in Washington, D.C. under the DTV Workcation/remote-work route.
Applied: August 18, 2026
Approved: August 31, 2026
Total time: 13 days
NO AGENT
INITIAL DOCUMENTS SUBMITTED:
• Passport / passport information page
• Recent photograph
• Proof of current location in the United States
• Bank statements showing I maintained the required 500,000 THB+ financial requirement
• Employment/remote-work verification letter
• Evidence supporting my freelance/independent contractor work
• Portfolio/work samples
ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTS REQUESTED BY THE EMBASSY:
They later contacted me and specifically requested:
• Updated employment verification letter showing my full name, position, that I am a digital nomad/remote worker, period of employment/work, and an authorized signature
• Recent pay slips/pay reports showing my name, company name, and pay period
I submitted the additional documents they requested, my application eventually changed to Pending Approval, and then I received the APPROVED email today!
I did everything myself with NO AGENT. The waiting definitely had me stressed 😂, especially after receiving the additional-document request, but Washington D.C. came through!
Hopefully this helps anyone applying through the Washington, D.C. Embassy under the Workcation/remote-worker route. Be prepared to document your work and income clearly, and if they request additional documents, give them exactly what they’re asking!
