OPI want to clarify, that I asked about potential waving of this requirement for people that cannot apply from their home country due to number of exceptional circumstances, like wars , prosecutions, or absense of thai embassy in one's home country. And pretty much anticipated — the answer is no. So basically DTV path for me is blocked since the only "permanent residency" that I have, is my country, and there is no thai embassy there. Very nice...

This is exactly what happened before somewhere also. I will no go into specifics but a certain African country ended up with 10s of thousands of new residents. LOL. I did warn the silly country (in this case its Thailand, and then they didn't listen either) of doing it.....I obviously couldn't warn the country where people applied for TR. In the case in my example the processing was done locally also and it was very successful in upping application success. So the exact opposite of the intended.

Just got my DTV in Hanoi submitted on 21 Aug and they've just sent out yesterday after VN national day. Very smooth. Btws please suggest which health insurance i should buy (allianz,cigna or genki is ok) thanks so much.

Vietnam PRC is not as easy as other countries. If they only allow PRCs, it will significantly reduce the number of people who would apply, plus it will be a move that will draw people outside their own country. Lose lose move. So I'm not surprised they accept applicants holding TRCs.RadiantC********
ZestyReindeer3171 I am. It's also strange because one would effectively be ending their stay in Vietnam by moving to a DTV in Thailand because you can't maintain a TRC in Vietnam if you don't have a majority physical presence there.

KnowledgeableRaccoon5198 Yeah, we know Singapore does. You don't need PR in Singapore. You just need a long-term visa such as S-Pass or E-Pass

They didn’t apply , they emailed the embassy asking what is required for the new “permit residence requirement “
The new conditions state “permanent residence “ is required but as always with Thailand this is embassy specific, and they are saying the will also accept TRC (temporary residence card )
