What are the requirements and considerations for a spouse visa in Thailand regarding bank balance seasoning?

This may have been posted in the past but I just want to share my experience.

I went to do my spouse visa today and as required I provided a statement showing the amount of 400000b had been in my account for at least 2 months. I deposited the money on 8 January 2021 and today being 9 March I felt it adequate.

Not so according to immigration. Apparently due to February only having 28 days they want me to extend my application date to 10 March 2021. This now requires me to go back to the bank and get an updated letter and statement.

Anybody including the month of February as one of their two months should bear this in mind and add a couple of extra days to cover the shortfall in February.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user shared their experience applying for a spouse visa in Thailand, highlighting an issue with the requirement of having 400,000 THB in their bank account for at least two months. They deposited the money on January 8, 2021, and believed they met the two-month requirement by March 9, 2021. However, the immigration office insisted they wait until March 10, due to the short month of February. Comments from other users confirmed the requirement is for 'two full months' of seasoning and suggested being cautious with timing in order to avoid complications.

Sounds pretty pedantic either way. Plus banks print out statement by month not by so days. I think unless absolutely necessary give yourself some overlay and lease 5 days - Iโ€™d never try to submit any papers close to a date as you can easily fall foul to needing another piece of paper the run into a holiday etc

you were flat out told wrong :(

It's written in the rules as 2 MONTHS seasoning (not 60 days) and the number of days in a month has no bearing on it. It's 2 months date to date So Jan 8th to Mar 8 would hit the requirement.

I'd have told the officer I wanted to file an appeal (but I realize everyone isn't me). It is what it is.

Depending on what immigration office, you should be fine with the bank letter (most allow the bank letter to be up to 7 days old), all you'd have to do is update the bank book to show the balance on the day you're going to apply.

Thank you for your report...and yes...its TWO FULL MONTHS of seasoning of the 400,000 Thai baht for the one year extension of stay as Married to Thai.

It should have met the two months requirement...

But...

It's moot to question your Thai Immigration office.

Just return as noted...

You will then be able to make the application.

Thanks again...๐Ÿ˜Š

Hi James, thanks for your comment. Can you please be a little more explicit. I thought a month is a month regardless of the number of days.

no I wish not to comment any further.

BTW...I agree with you.

But obviously Thai Immigration did not.

I have no clue why ?

Thank you.

Good Night from Thailand.

have a look to the documents just below. It says clearly Two Months. Visa is giving on days base, 30 days, 60 days etc.

... you shouldn't need another letter and statement if the ones you have are less than 7 days old, just an update of your passbook. Here's the list of requirements from the Chiang Mai IO.

Do you know where I can get a similar list of documents for Bangkok IO. I will be requesting an extension to my current 90d o visa based on marriage.

1st time for me and cannit seem to find a definitive list of requirements. I would prefer not to drive out to IO at Chaeng Wattana to get the list if it is readily available online. Thanks

it seems that all offices have their own rules. Iโ€™m sure there are others that would not have asked for the extra days.
