Hi guys just like to say I got my Extension of Stay stamped in my passport (marriage) and a re-entry permit today. Pattani Immigration Office.

And I asked a few questions that I have been confused about and this Thai Visa Advice may have been a little confused about.

So Questions asked from me to do with EofS (marriage)

1. About Handouts (what you need for application) and process explained for your EofS marriage and related questions.

I asked if the handout shows everything you need to hand in at your application date? He said yes and he went and got one and it was as it’s always been and standard from what I’ve always done and shown.

2. To do with Under Consideration Stamp.

Why and what is the reason for the Under Consideration stamp? He’s reply. On the date you pay and put your application in to immigration office needs time to examine and checked the paperwork is correct at the time of the application with the issues of the paperwork if necessary. This doesn’t happen overnight. This is to check and why you sign everything single piece of paper in your application. You are saying it’s not false and it is true on that date. If we find a mistake or something maybe more serious we will contact you to do with what we think is wrong with the application paperwork and discuss if it can be corrected. Or for a more serious reason of not issuing and rejecting the person EofS (marriage) application

Then I asked about the ฿400,000 seasoning time is ? he said it’s 2 months.

I then asked when coming back to get my EofS inked in what do I have to bring with me? He said what you brought with you today. This was myself and my passport.

Then I asked if the paperwork was all correct. Is there any reason why I should have keep the ฿400,000 seasoned money after the 2 months? He said NO. And pointed to the handout and process.

He asked why I had asked? I said because I hear people giving advice saying you should.

He’s replied with a smile and said you are obviously not get correct advice.

Being married means you could need the money immediately after the 2 months seasoning for a number of personal family reasons or emergency.

If for some reason they wanted to see your bank book again for any reason as long as you can prove it was season for the 2 months the day after that you can do what you like with it. This would have been looked at on the day of application. So as long as that was not false on that day. You are ok to do what you like.

Also pointed to a big poster on the wall photo below

Happy Days hope this advice helps

TLDR : Answer Summary
A member recently received an Extension of Stay (EoS) based on marriage along with a re-entry permit from the Pattani Immigration Office. They clarified the application process, explaining that the handout provided includes all necessary documents. The 'Under Consideration' stamp signifies that the immigration office needs time to review the application, ensuring all submitted documents are accurate. It was confirmed that the ฿400,000 requirement is only needed for a 2-month seasoning period, after which there is no need to maintain that amount in the account for the EoS. The discussion highlighted the importance of correct advice, as varied practices may exist across different immigration offices.

Okay what we're NOT gonna do is get into a pissing match about whether you should or shouldn't keep the 400K baht in the account during the under consideration period for an extension based on marriage.

Bangkok USED TO <-(as in they no longer do so) ask you update your bank book the day you show up to get the year extension inked in when the under consideration stamp runs out

AFAIK; they were the ONLY office that EVER asked about the bank book or the 400K when you went back for your year extension

There is NO printed requirement that says you have to keep the 400K baht in the account during the under consideration period. It is NOT written into the rules about extensions

Marriage is 2 months before only, no requirement after you get your full stamp?

there is no requirement after you’ve handed your application in you don’t have to keep £฿400,000 in your bank until you get your EofS inked in.

@Martin *******
Risky, very risky, everyone recommends keeping the funds until you receive the final stamp.

@Lloyd *******
the op is saying feel free to spend the money during the consideration period. But I'd rather play it safe than try to fight it out a month later with a "but he said..."

That is why I said after the "full stamp".
