I'm a 66 year-old Canadian in Thailand presently and looking to return in November for 5 months
I came in on a TR 60 extended it for 30 days and now I'm going to need to do a border bounce
I'm looking for advice if I can do a retirement Visa and which one it would be that would allow me to stay for 5 months out of each year and not have to do the border bounces but merely do a 90 day report
Would I need to get a bank account before I leave Thailand
TLDR : Answer Summary
A Canadian expat currently in Thailand is seeking advice on obtaining a Retirement Visa that would allow him to stay for 5 months without needing border bounces. Users suggest that a Retirement Visa would permit him to do 90-day reports instead. Detailed instructions are provided for applying for a Non-O Visa leading to a Retirement Extension, which involves opening a bank account and various documentation. Some users note that managing the Retirement Visa process can be more challenging than the TR visa with border bounces.
