Need updated advice, please, 2 Americans arrived on a 28 day visa via the Phuket sandbox. They can extend 10 days but want to extend until April. What is their best option? Fly to KL/Sing/ Vientiane to apply for a 60 day visa returning via Test n Go? Try for an in country Covid extension? Advice appreciated.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Two Americans currently in Thailand under a 28-day visa from the Phuket Sandbox want to extend their stay until April. They have options including applying for a 30-day extension for their visa exemption, considering an in-country COVID extension, or exiting to a nearby country (like KL, Singapore, or Vientiane) to apply for a new 60-day tourist visa. They should inquire at their local immigration office, with practical advice suggesting they go to Muang Thong Thani or call Chumchurri Square to check on extension capabilities.

Thank you, everyone, for your input. One last question, can they apply for visa extension at Chumchurri or do they need to go out to Chaeng Watana?

which Immigration office they use is dependent on where they are staying.

AND if staying in Bangkok, if they arrived Visa Exempt or with a Tourist Visa.

For Bangkok with Visa Exemption, they would go to Muang Thong Thani (MTT)

You can make an appointment online for MTT here, saves a lot of time... See the image for building entrance

thank you. I was hoping they could do it at Chumchurri Square since they're near Rama V but thanks for the info. I'll send them out to MTT.

With American passports they should have had 30 days on arrival (visa exemption) and they can extend that 30 days

, yes, thanks, I’ve been corrected. How can they stay until April? Are 60 day tourist visas being granted at Thai embassy’s in neighboring countries? Laos?

The covid extension may still be available to add on another 60 days, let’s see what announcement they make on Jan 25th or just before

Visa on arrival is for 15 days and can be extend by 7 days

I think you have the 30 days visa exemption which can be extended by 30 days one time

ok, thanks, that’s good so that gets them through February. With everything changing, should they plan or reassess in mid Feb?

their best bet is to see whether the covid extension is extended again or ends on Tuesday. If it ends then they'll need to make plans to either get different visa in country or leave.
