TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around health insurance requirements for individuals holding an OA visa in Thailand. A user recounts their experience of being asked for a health insurance certificate upon arrival, which was accepted without issue. However, several comments highlight potential issues for re-entry and extensions of the OA visa, especially concerning the requirement for a Thai accredited health insurance policy after the first year. It's advised to be cautious about health insurance documentation when applying for extensions or re-entry.

we try to clear it, so you can play safe with future O/A visa. See above, you are perfectly safe if you stay for six months and DON'T leave the country, as to this date, it is completely unclear what will be asked at the point of re-entry. However if you this time entered with an O/A issued before 31st Oct 2019 and wasn't asked for Health Insurance on entering Suvarnabhumi Airport, that just means the play by the rule . . . this does however not mean that you can repeat this come next year

However during her next year application in the U.K. it will be clear that her insurance must sign the Thai Health Ministry certificate or her application will be refused. As this is too far reaching into the future, I shall refrain from further comments

yes, I think she believes they "accepted" it in Suvarnabhumi, while I think they just nodded it "OK" while "en passant" . . . which does not mean that it will be accepted for all O/A visa issued after 31st of October 2019, and subsequently not for her next year O/A

And the travel policy has no bearing on this situation.

Thank you...and I will try once again...

What was the DATE YOUR O-A visa was issued in the UK?

Did you show the UK Thai Embassy your travel insurance policy?

Or were you asked to show it at any time?

in case you were issued the Thai Ministry of Health "certificate of foreign insurance for alien applying to a Non-Imm-O/A" , got it signed by your home insurance and presented it to the embassy upon your application for the O/A visa, yes you are safe FOR THE FIRST YEAR validity of the visa. However after the expiry of the validity, you must have a Thai based & accredited insurance

or get the hell out of Kansas ! 🤩

or get another Certificate of Insurance with new dates...and or...get a new O-A visa from home Country.

if you stay in Thailand for the whole year and do not leave and re-enter, yes, you are safe and you are well insured! But what I am saying is, if you leave and re-enter, we do not yet not know how immigration officials will handle the matter. You can be refused the "renewed" 365 days upon re-entry during the "valid until"period of the O/A visa and only be stamped in for the remaining period of the "valid until" stamp, or you can be completely refused and given 30 days visa exempt entry to give you time to buy a thai accredited health insurance of the tgia list of insurances Immigration will accept for the issueing of prolonged stay on the O/A visa. Like I said - we do not know, yet

if your O/A was issued before October 31st, 2019, they clear you at Suvarnabhumi airport without insurance and without the "foreign insurance certificate". It does NOT mean that they "accepted" your foreign insurance, they probably just "nodded" it OK ! However if you will apply for an Extension of Stay out of this visa, or try to go into the second year of the O/A visa, or do a Re-entry, your chances are minimal. They do not regard your foreign insurance as being valid. Reports are still unclear how Immigration inside Thailand is handling the issue
