Answer summary
Recent discussions in the expat community highlight confusion and frustration regarding the changes to Thailand's visa rules, particularly the potential reduction of the visa-free stay from 60 days to 30 days. Many comments express concerns over the impact on tourism, with some suggesting they might consider other countries like Vietnam for longer stays. Several users pointed out that the article circulating about these changes was old news, as the modifications regarding the visa durations may have already been implemented last year. Overall, there seems to be a consensus that frequent changes in visa regulations create uncertainty and adversely affect tourism.

I was, however, deeply wondering why they would announce the coming of the DTV, because there was no need to announce it as it had already been introduced by July 15, 2024

If you follow the internal political situation then you it will be no surprise to you. The new government about to come to power is more nationalistic and currently looking for increase avenues for state revenue.

If you want to stay in Thailand longer than 30 days you will still be able to - will just involve visa fees and paperwork.

If you want peace of mind just apply for a 60 day tourist visa via your embassy

Jan Kenneth Nesland actually it must be from 2 years ago. March 2024. Tod Daniels said 2025, but this can't be true, because they are announcing the introduction of the DTV, yet it got introduced by July 2024. Something does not match, because if they are announcing the DTV, the post must have been published before July 15, 2024

So far, nothing has changed, only rumors and speculation.

Maybe in the near future, probably, it will officially change from 60 to 30 days again, but at the moment that is not the case. So for now, just wait and see. Nothing has changed so far for those traveling to Thailand in the coming days who qualify for visa exemption. There is still the option to apply once for a 30-day extension of stay, or you can obtain a 60-day tourist visa before departure.

So it’s really not that complicated.

That means to me they want us to stay shorter length of time I am used to get 60 days on arrival and then getting extra 30 days for 1900 Bath at the emigration Office I always stay for 90 days Dec, Jan & Feb. I am tired of the visum changing all the time so next time I am going to Vietnam where I get 90 days when I land I have heard great things about Vietnam friendly people, cheaper prices and great food.

Good bye Thailand after 6 years where I have stayed 90 days every year and I have been good for the Thai economy. But no moore I am trying something new.

Khun Philippe Strongly recommend you to go to singapore. There everywhere police and citizens who always watch you and call police when someone has bad behave. or against laws. Even, police can knock your door at 1 am midnight. Singapore is clean and well maintained with full of controls of the police and government. Singapore is your best pick!! PS) or Malaysia is not bad choice for you too. Malaysia is very similar to Singapore, just plus Islamic. Malaysia police raid everywhere and every day. so no bad foreigners can stay there long. Very strict! But one disadvantage is your freedom is largely restricted. But you do not care!

Khun Philippe Marriage does not mean you have right stay permit. Even, married visa is more complicated and more required. Thai government does not want Thai woman to marry Foreigners. But good luck to you. But if you do not like so much stupid foreign tourists in thailand, what about moving to other countries where much less stupid foreign tourists come? This is one of the best solution for you? You can not change a country, but you can change your place to live.
