Hi all

I got news, many ppl got rejected on the embassy at yangon for applying ED visa, embassy said they now do some checking to the school so they cannot accept another ED application atm, and another ppl that had previous ED visa is rejected too and cannot apply more because he already had 1 ED visa. Im not sure this applied to all embassy or only this particular embassy.

In addition, they said now Phillipines and Myanmar no longer able to apply for ED visa, those country ran out of option now

TLDR : Answer Summary
There have been reports of increased rejections for ED visa applications at the Thai Embassy in Yangon, specifically linked to the verification of language schools. Current applicants from Myanmar and the Philippines are facing significant hurdles, with no further applications being accepted due to these checks. Some individuals with previously issued ED visas are also being denied reapplication. While successful applications for Non O, Non B, or Tourist visas were noted, it appears that the scrutiny on ED visas has intensified, raising concerns over potential labor shortages as many struggle to meet the new verification standards.

Remark: South African Nationals can not apply. For Tourist, no previous remark from another Embassy & show money THB 20,000.- need to be actual in your bank. Non ED, various schools had applications rejected, please enquire with us if can apply. Non O Single Entry only, volunteer OK, show money THB 20,000.- need to be actual in your bank.

Myanmar citizens appying for ED visa will be booked into a proper school........or Uni. They dont need to cheat the system, there is an MOU betwenn Thailand & Myanmar allowing work-permits and visas to be acquired cheaply and with minimal fuss. Laos and Cambodia too.

Christ, there is going to be a labour shortage at the rate they are knocking back ED visas 😳

In fact we had 13 people at the Embassy in Yangon today, the ones that applied ED from any Language school were rejected, because OP reason is correct, they need to check the school first, other people that applied Non O, Non B or Tourist were successful. The one that rejected for Ed were able to apply Transit or Tourist, that depended on documents they had with them. This was Yangon today only. If you read the news it is clear that all Embassies/Consulates have a go at Ed Visas from certain Language Schools. May be next week the situation will be better.

there is a difference between rejected at the window and told no and given the option to apply another Visa. You can try somewhere else in such case. All Consulates still issue Non Ed Visa if all is OK. But in some cases, after a long history of Tourist visa, than for example Savannakhet or HCMC will issue the sticker, but VOID it. In this case you have little or no chance to apply somewhere else in the region. With that I close comments. Reflect your situation and apply for the correct visa. BTW, all newcomers to Thailand are usually granted ED visas, as this is a creditable situation.

so basically they can try for another attempt but not on yangon? Is there any “wait time” before trying again? Any marks on the passport?

many people got rejected and other people got rejected to. Im not sure this applied to all embassy or only this particular embassy. And what do you like to tell us. You are not sure, you just use random phrases like many people, for me that is more than thousand for others more than 2. And for the rest you are not sure, with other words you just like typing some text to complain. They said means nothing but is nice, please show the official announcement. You can contact one of the admins or moderators if you found this announcement to open this topic to share it.
