Tourist visa extension these days please.

If entering the kingdom on a 30 days visa, I know that normally I can extend my stay with 30 days more within Thailand and for the next extension I have to go out for a border run for example.

Since land borders are still closed, what is the procedure to extend the visa further please? (30 and another 30, 3-4 month stay in total)

What is the cost these days for each extension?

Many thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
If you enter Thailand on a 30-day visa exempt entry, you can typically extend your stay for another 30 days while in Thailand. However, due to the current land border closures, an extension beyond this requires a correct visa type upon entry into the country, such as the Single Entry Tourist Visa, which allows for 60 days plus a 30-day extension for a total of 90 days. The application fee for visa extensions remains at 1,900 THB. As of January 25, 2022, the possibility of further COVID-related extensions may not be available, and immigration policies may be stricter.

if you wish to stay for 4 months then arrive with a correct visa

get a Single Entry Tourist Visa with 60 days first, you can extend that for 30 days as well

The last day to apply for Covid extension is currently January 25th. No one knows if it will still be offered past that date and likely won't know until a few days before.

But in the last renewal of the Covid extension the law specifically told immigration officers to be more strict about issuing it and to not hand them out easily.

Cost these days for an Extension of Stay are the same as the costs during the last 20 years: Application Fee is 1.900 Thb.

You can not enter on a 30 day Visa. It is called a 30 day Visa Exempt Entry and only once possible to extend for another 30 days.

As land borders are closed and almost every country has entry rules, a visa run in short period of time is not available.

Best option is to get the correct visa for the purpose and length of stay before you make your way into Thailand.

Example: Single Entry Tourist Visa , 60 days on arrival and 1 Extension of Stay for 30 days. Total 90 days in Thailand.

Thank you very much for the quick and helpful reply. Only to make sure, the Covid extensions are irrelevant now correct?

As far as known it stops 25 Jan 2022 and it is harder to get. Planning a holiday in Thailand on a courtesy Extension based on closed airports is not the way to go.

At the start of the year you were on covid extensions, so how are you now on a visa exempt entry?
