What are the current requirements for applying for a tourist visa to Thailand from Vietnam, and what's the processing time with the new e-visa system?
Dear Expats,
I am planning to apply for a tourist visa from Vietnam. As I know, I just need to apply for Evisa only starting from Jan 1 2025.
When I checked the website, I found the required documents to apply for the TR visa below. Earlier, I thought I needed to show proof of financial assets (bank statements) as well.
Do we still need to show bank statements and other documents in the new system (apart from those in the picture)?
Does anyone know the processing time via the new system for tourist visas as I need to prepare the accommodation?

Answer summary
The individual inquiring is looking to apply for a Thailand tourist visa (TR) from Vietnam and is confused about the requirements regarding financial documentation. They mentioned that starting January 1, 2025, they will need to apply for an Evisa and want to know if proof of funds like bank statements is still necessary. Comments from the community suggest that there have not been financial requirements for the tourist e-visa for a long time, and they advise simply providing the documents specified in the official requirements. There is also a discussion about the common practice of entering Thailand without a visa for short stays.

1. Since when do anyone need to apply for a tourist visa? You get 60 days on your ticket and can extend 30 days.
2. Since when do anyone need an invitation letter for a tourist visa or proof of funds?
I have never been asked of any of these things and I’ve been coming and going since 2009
