Hey all.

Got my first border run shortly - thinking of heading to Vietnam for a few days then coming back. From research it looks several countries in Asia have made stricter rules for inbound/outbound travellers. Has anyone went to Vietnam recently and if so, how was the airport like?

For some reason they name it a visa even though it's an exemption. Maybe best to contact your embassy mate, in your case.

. My guess is the fact you need a visa to enter Vietnam means that your background means nothing to them in regards to entry

Wouldn't surprise me if it stays this way until the virus is totally under control. Closing borders for a short time makes no sense

Correct, if you don't have a TRC or PRC (temporary or permanent residencey cards) you won't get into Vietnam right now. They've even canceled valid multiple entry tourist visas.

I have a few friends living in vietnam who have to leave for a visa run and can't get back in.

Vietnam is closed. No visa on arrival, Visa exemption, or tourist visas are being permitted. Vietnam suspended extensions of their visas in the country too.
