Anyone that got rejected in BKK airport for having covid extensions can give me some details on what exactly got you rejected? Seems like some people have no trouble at all while others get rejected, so I am not sure what is going to happen in my case

TLDR : Answer Summary
Many expats report mixed experiences when entering Thailand, particularly when using COVID extensions. Some common reasons for rejection include having multiple COVID extensions or questionable visa types such as volunteer visas. Successful entry often depends on presenting sufficient financial proof and valid rental agreements. There are anecdotes suggesting that entering through Phuket may yield better outcomes than BKK, which is noted to have stricter immigration officers.

I guess it depends if you get a corrupt one hoping to get pocket money or not

What I read before
@Pri***
is a. Come in with a real (Tourist) Visa (No visa exempt) and b. fly to Phuket. One says THEN you have the best chance to come into Thailand.

Tourist visa vs visa exemption makes 0 difference.

I have heard the same. The Bangkok Airports have the most hard-nosed officers compared to other entry points of the country.

The ones that I have seen having the most rejections are the ones that were on questionable one year volunteer visas.

I almost got rejected, here is why:

-11 month spent in Thailand as a tourist

-4 covid extensions

-Back to Thailand with visa exemption after 11 days outside the country.

Here is how I avoided to be sent home:

-showed my bank accounts with lots of money in savings and no incomes from Thailand

-showed my condo rental contract

-called my girlfriend

-2 hours of saying « sorry I didn’t know I did something wrong »

They believed I was working illegally.

in my case yes.

But it all depends on the immigration officer.

You probably won't know until you're there at immigration. There appears to be no set pattern, although they always do give seven days to leave the country, so you won't be kicked out immediately.

This is basically what the OP was asking about.

. Sorry guys my bad. I read it wrongly..Although other than having no seven day grace period, my answer is basically the same. There's no set pattern and it seems to be a discretionary action by the immigration officer. I do know one guy who lived in the same condo building as me who was denied entry and returned to Phnom Penh, but he'd been here on the amnesty well over a year ago, and then successive covid extensions. Altogether he'd been in the country since covid started, so his time is done. He was told to get a proper visa or try again in six months

Yep. That's how I read it.

@Bo***
I think he's asking about re-entering Thailand at BKK airport after having been here previously on a lot of Covid extensions.

@Bobby *******
His post is asking about entry at BKK airport.

@Steve ******
He's talking about a covid extension. They always give seven days

@Bobby *******
You dont get 7 days to leave the Country if you've been refused entry.

It's Thailand, of course it's a lottery!

maybe we can find out the pattern, can't be a total lottery
