What should I consider before returning to Thailand after multiple COVID visa extensions?

RE: Successful COVID extension + re-entry question.

Hi all, last week I was successful at securing my 3rd COVID extension, this time at the IT Plaza Lak Si. Was in and out within 30 minutes, with no questions asked other than proof of flight out by the expiry of the new extension. I had not been asked this before, and was told that I would need to show proof of flight this time around because I had been on tourist visas and extensions for 6 months. Luckily, I only needed the extension because I had a flight home 4 days after the expiration of previous extension, so came prepared with booking confirmation. Again, cannot fault the service and efficiency, even though I arrived 'late' at around 11am.

I am now back in the UK and wanting to return to Thailand (for tourism purposes) within the next month or two. I have heard of foreigners with lots of previous COVID extensions being refused entry upon arrival in Thailand. Is anyone able to advise? Note, 23yrs old, British passport, 1x1month and 3x2 month covid extensions in passport. Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user successfully secured a third COVID extension in Thailand but is concerned about re-entry after multiple extensions. They received a suggestion to obtain a single entry tourist visa, have proof of onward travel, sufficient funds, and lodging upon return to mitigate potential issues at immigration control.

No one can tell you whether you will or won't have issues comin' back in after being here for 6 months.

I'd say get a single entry tourist visa, have proof of onward travel in 60 days (the number of days you'll be stamped in for) have proof of funds 20K baht or the equivalent in CASH, and proof of lodging.

Those are the things they COULD ask you to show, so have those and minimize any issues comin' back but it's gonna come down to the officer you're standing in front of at passport control when you stamp in

Hi
@Tod ********
, thanks for your answer. So just to check, getting a visa in advance won't 'guarantee' me being allowed back in when I arrive? I was under the impression that only entering under visa exemption (W30) was prone to being turned away.

nope, just because you have a visa doesn't mean you will skate in. All it means is IF they let you in they will stamp you in for the days that visa allows ๐Ÿ˜‰

all you can do is be prepared with the 3-proofz I mentioned they could ask for and hope for the best (y)

Thanks Todd, I don't suppose you think it worthwhile trying to contact Thai immigration in advance to check anything? Would be a nightmare to spend so much on flights and be turned away

@Scott ******
nope, there's nothing you can do about it.
