TLDR : Answer Summary
Many expats have shared their experiences with re-entering Thailand using various visas, particularly the DTV visa. While some individuals report facing few or no issues during their entries, others mention instances of being questioned at immigration, especially if they have a specific history with previous entries. Overall, the consensus is that while occasional scrutiny occurs, most travelers with valid visas don't encounter significant problems. Factors such as entry frequency and personal appearance may influence the level of questioning one might experience.
Remember people holding a valid visa to Thailand doesn't guarantee you get in.
All it does is guarantee that IF they let you in you get stamped in for the days the visa allows.
Plenty of people with valid tourist visas (that they bought at a Thai consulate before arriving here) get denied entry because of previous extensive entry/stay history.
With that being said, very few people with valid DTV are denied entry and those cases usually have more to the story than the people relate in their post..
Understand that immigration stereotypes, and profiles. If you set off any of their concerns, and it has nothing at all to do with your visa, they will increase their scrutiny of you. They base things on your physical look, how you actually smell, and other physical traits, but none of it has anything to do with what visa you have. Thailand does not like poor people.
Some weeks ago I came back from KL and I saw a very old white man with DTV and yes, they interrogate him hard and they call to the supervisor. Was wait on the line and can't advance. But at the end the supervisor let him enter to Thailand but the immigration officer doesn't seems haply with that.
no, and i have done it often and recently. Just complete the “Arrival Card”. Then physically attend an immigration office for an extension beyond 60 days. 🤔
When I landed in Chiang Mai from Vietnam Hanoi, there was a random immigration check. I just had to fill a form, very similar to TDAC, and after a review I entered, no questions asked. It had nothing to do with the DTV specifically but just a random immigration check.
Go home and don't waste your time and money. Its no good here anyway anymore if you don't have a Thai wife who knows the loopholes. I've been here 26 years now. You need to leave or you'll go home with empty pockets
Ive been here since DTV released and in/out prob 10-20 times each entry ZERO questions, well very first entry they questioned me what is this visa as the officer never saw it before, other than that nothing
