Hello!  I am getting ready to apply for a DTV visa for the freelancer catigory.  I see you have to apply for the E Visa while in what ever country you choose.  What countries around Thailand are processing the applications the fastest?   I don’t want to get stuck for weeks away from Thailand waiting for my new visa.   Also o am currently on an education visa via an agent and they want to charge me 4000 baht to cancel. Is canceling your old visa really necessary?  Thanks in advance for your help!

You can cancel it yourself, get a letter from the school stating your last day of classes and take it to immigration. Immigration will adjust your permission to stay stamp, this can be done with a date in the future to give you time to leave.

You need to cancel the ED visa if you are on an extension of stay rather than the original 90 day visa. Given you say its via an agent I'd say cancel it before leaving Thailand rather than after you return
