Recommendations for best school for learning Thai on edu visa in Bangkok

1. Actually want to learn.

2. Cost effective vs intensive?

3. Most enjoyable schools?

4. How many times can you extend?

-my research shows after intial 90days, schools offer different maximum lengths. Some say 12, 15,18.... Then need to reapply for non o edu visa.

Can This be repeated? If so for how long?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion provides recommendations for learning Thai on an Education (ED) visa in Bangkok. It emphasizes the importance of selecting a school based on personal learning goals, effectiveness, and enjoyment. Key suggestions include checking several schools such as Duke Language School, RTL, and UTL by sampling classes and engaging with current students. Costs for module-based classes typically run around 7,000-8,000 baht per module, and students can obtain an ED visa by enrolling and completing a certain number of classes. After the initial ED visa, students may extend it, typically for up to 9 months initially, followed by an additional 6 months on a subsequent visa, allowing a total of about 15 months of studies in total.

I'd say pick three or so schools here in Bangkok; Duke, RTL, UTL, etc. sit sample classes (usually an hour) at each one and talk to the currently enrolled students. THEN decide.

Most schools run "module based" classes where you go 3 hours a day, 5 days a week for a total of 60 hours for a 4 week level.

Schools offer morning and afternoon classes and some offer evening. I'd say right now the cost of those types of schools is about 7K-8K baht per module. You need to sign up for so many modules to get the ED visa support offered by the school.

I will say with 100% certainty that the best thai language school I've seen so far is DLS (Duke Language School) on the 3rd floor of the Trendy Building on Sukhumvit Soi 13. I have never seen a school with better material, more contemporary high frequency vocab, and more dedicated teaching staff than that school.

No, sorry not myself. Only from others that really wanted to learn. It seems to be a school that doesn't exist just to gain people a visa. The people I know that used them, live here so never needed to go to school simply for a visa.

I went to Pro Language for one year plus and am very familiar with AUA. Do you have any experience with ABC? Thinking of improving my Thai language skills.

This one seems to get good reviews.

Tod Daniels, Do you also have recommendations for schools in Pattaya (not needing an Education Visa)?

Haha, well I have plenty of friends in both camps here. Its about time I buckle down and leap past the I speak Thai good enough to know I speak shitty stage. Cut out the significant other stress of me being annoyed with problem resolution and also because of my twin sons,I want to be good example on learning language correctly.

Any school approved by the Ministry of Education can offer ED visa support when you enroll in xxx number of classes.

You enroll, pay your tuition, get paperwork from them and go get an ED visa from a thai consulate.

You're wanting information about schools, visa mills vs real schools, methodology etc, and for that you should post on a learning thai group.

Believe me I know a thing or three about thai language schools in Bangkok and about learning this one trick pony language.

The way it works in bangkok is you can get 9 months of study out of the first ED visa you get (that covers basic and intermediate) then you go get another ED visa and you can get 6 more months out of that (that covers advanced) then after 15 months you're done studying thai on an ED visa in bangkok.

You will get better answers if you post in the Farang Can Learn Thai f/b group. This group here is mostly about visas to thailand NOT thai language schools.
