Hi everyone, I'm Alex from ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น ๐ŸคŒ

this group is amazing and I would like to have some tips for my situation.

I just bought a return ticket from 11/24 to 02/25 (3 months).

As italian I know that I can apply for a VoA and get 60days free (but italian Thai Embassy website says just 30days yet), but since I want to stay 90days, what's better?

a - extend my VoA when in Bangkok

b - apply for e-visa and extend it later?

Later in 2025, if nothing change in Thailand ๐Ÿคž, I'll apply for DTV, so looking also at this, A or B (or is it irrelevant)?

Thank you ๐Ÿ™‚

TLDR : Answer Summary
An Italian citizen, Alex, is seeking advice on how to stay in Thailand for 90 days. He initially considered a Visa on Arrival (VoA) but has learned that he is actually eligible for a 60-day free entry stamp, which can be extended for an additional 30 days. A community member clarified that there is no need to apply for a tourist visa beforehand, as the free entry stamp with a subsequent extension would suffice for his stay.

Okay let's first clear up your errant terminology

As an Italian passport holder there is no Visa On Arrival for you to enter thailand on ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

You're talking about "free stamp" (visa exempt entry), which before July 15th was 30 days and now since then is for 60 days. it is not a visa on arrival, it is not a visa at all, just a free entry stamp for 60 days

You can extend that 60 day entry one time for 30 more days at the immigration office for 1900baht after you're here giving you a total of 90 days in country.

There is no sense at all to apply for a single entry tourist visa from your consulate before you come here because that gets you stamped in for 60 days just like you can get with a free stamp entry now. Just come in 60 day free stamp and take the 30 day extension after you're here

do I need to apply for the extension straight after the arrival in Thailand or when 60 days are running out?

@Simona *******
you can get a 30 day extension at most offices when you have 30 days or less left on the entry stamp
