I am from the USA, and I entered Thailand on January 23. My visa exempt expires on March 8. I understand that I am eligible for a 60-day covid extension which I intend to take care of on my own. After that I need to stay on in Thailand as I've accepted a job at an international school that begins in August. That means that I will need an alternative visa for the period between May and August. I am married to a Thai national (11y years) and have had the marriage visa in the past. I have the required funds in bkk bank account to be eligible for the marriage visa, however my Thai wife is still in the USA on business for another 6 months or so. We own a condo in Bangkok, and a farm in Chaiyaphum; both in her name.

I understand that her not being present effects my ability to receive a marriage Visa and extension based on marriage......does anyone have advice? Please let me know, thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user, an American expat in Thailand, is seeking advice on visa options after their visa exempt expires on March 8. They intend to apply for a 60-day COVID extension but need to figure out what to do between May and August, as they have accepted a job at an international school. The user's wife is a Thai national but is currently in the U.S., which complicates their eligibility for a marriage visa. They own property in Thailand, which also plays a role in their situation.

Actually you’ll have to do a 30 day extension first, as you’re entitled to that (if in Bangkok. I’m not sure about other provinces). After that you could apply for the 60 day unable to travel due to COVID. Currently you have until the end of March to apply for that extension.

So you should go get your 30 day extension first then near the end of March go back and try for a COVID extension.

correct. But you can apply for the COVID extension before your current stamp (30 day extension expires) but you have to get the 30 day extension first

I expect the 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19 would continue to be sold until the start of high season 2021, I recommend to continue using them
