I would like advise on the best option for a 12 month visa please.

I have a 2 year old and and unsure of the best option is to get a education visa for him or for myself (although ive been advised he doesn't actually need a visa until 15)

I'm just unsure with all the agents and stuff people keep giving me diferent advise.

How much is a 12 month visa?

What are the requirements/ process.

Can I trust agents im scared of a fake visa obviously being a single mother I don't want to see the wrong side of the law here

TLDR : Answer Summary
The individual is seeking advice on obtaining a 12-month visa in Thailand, particularly options for herself and her 2-year-old child. There are concerns about the necessity of a visa for the child until age 15, the trustworthiness of agents, and the costs associated with a 12-month visa. Comments suggest that the Education (ED) visa is a possible option but note that it comes with responsibilities, such as attending classes regularly. There are also discussions about costs and the potential risks of scams when using agents.

Go visit your local immigration office and ask these questions. As for your 12 month visa, the only option is an ED visa. A semi work around would be to return to the UK, get a 6-month multi entry tourist visa that you can stretch to 9 months, after which you could try to get a regular 60-day visa from Penang or Cambodia, which is extendable to 90.

I read in one of your comment saying that you have rental properties so I assume you have an income. Since visa will be an issue how about being here and there everywhere 3 months or so. That way you could show your son southeast Asia, and once he has reached school-age you can plan something else

Your only choice is an ed visa but you'll have to go to school 5 days a week for 3 hours a day. So who is going to watch your child for 4 hours? That is going to be expensive. Thailand is not a good place for a western woman to raise a child by herself. I recommend you go back to England where you have friends and family.

An Education visa for yourself is around 50k a year. Your child should be at nursery and this way they might be able to get your the documents to do an education visa for your child too

@Brian ******
50k for a couple semesters of learning Thai? I think not!

Thai, Chinese. I work in this business so I do kind of know what I'm talking about.
Burnard ************
@Brian ******
Then you must work at an upscale school. Jeeeez!

She can get a real education in Thai for a lot less than that. Learning English as a Second Language in the USA is a couple hundred Dollars a semester, max! And Education prices there are crazy in the USA.

One subject! My AA, BA, & MS (plus a certification in Electronics) only cost me a 130k USD over 7 years!

If your institution, in Thailand, is changing 50k for a single one-year program, your work is a scam!

1 Year at Harvard University will cost about 50k USD for 1 year tuition.

Unless you are talking about 50k Baht.

being that it's a Thai group I assumed people would understand it's Thai baht

@Brian ******
yep i knew you were talking baht lol
Burnard ************
@Brian ******
But thank you for clarifying now.
Burnard ************
@Brian ******
No, it's an international Thai Visa group. Visa implies that one needs to enter Thailand. You did not correct me when I specifically said what I paid in USD for my education and at the end of the post when I said "Unless you are talking about Thai Baht." -Crickets

Your next post was a defense of your service includes Visa+Study. Nothing about currency.
Lyndon ************
@Burnard ***********
they are talking Thai ฿. This is Thailand not the USA, hence prices are given in the local currency and ฿50k is realistic for a year language course here
Burnard ************
@Lyndon ***********
I asked him that. I gave him the opportunity to clairfy. He didn't. She is in UK, so how would she know he meant Thai Baht?

If he did. He did not confirm what he was talking about. I made it clear what I was talking about.

50k Thai Baht sounds about right.

@Burnard ***********
this is for visa plus study
Burnard ************
@Brian ******
That is still a scam. What your really doing is selling the VISA and using "study" as a front.

Many real schools will help with the Visa. Or she could get the letter of admission and do it herself or have an agent follow up with the -real- school.

If I were immigration, I would look at your "business" and take appropriate action.

I am pretty sure they monitor the Thai forums. If not actually host them.

I don't believe a 2 year old can get an education visa

Try asking this question on the Thai Visa Advice page on FB. They have all the correct up to date answers there.

What are you going to be doing here in Thailand? As in the reason for your visa

living here with my son.

I'm haply to learn thai or do the muay thai visa. I'm not sure of any other options

@Ellis ******
Best to stay home. You don't have any education and consequently will not get a work permit. Illegally working will be followed by deportation. And banned from entering Thailand for 5 or 10 years. So, there are probably no options for you unless you will get married to a Thai man🙏

how can u guess my level of education.

I don't need to work I own properties.

Why do u small man syndrome people keep abusing me in this group and making assumptions about my life.

What a dick you look 🤣
Lye **********
Ellis Marie since you own properties, why not sell it off and get Thai Elite Visa with the money?
Bonnie *********
@Ellis ******
So, you're coming to a FB forum, providing little information, asking questions with answers available on the embassy website in your country. How do you expect people to respond?

If you get an education visa, you will be tested in whatever subject you say you're studying.
Burnard ************
@Bonnie ********
She indicated it would be real study.

Fuck ur advice ill get ot elsewhere this bf route is weird 2x I asked for help and 2x I was attacked for doing so.

Pathetic group full of cunts 🤣

If you come here, get used to it. Expats are a "Special" group of individuals.

That is an honest warning. Usually the people who have been here the longest.

Why did I say "here?" LOL I am in Cambodia. But I have been in Thailand quite a bit. And, actually, the Expats all seem to be the same even though the ASEAN locals are different from Country to Country.

@Burnard ***********
the lady seems special too, sheesh!

@Burnard ***********
is on the money with his comment. Not to say that there aren't decent people around, but a lot of expats have an arrogant, elitist attitude (underlying racism and misogyny).
Lyndon ************
@Ellis ******
abused and attacked? I don't think so. All the while calling people dicks and cunts... Best of luck
Galenus ******
@Ellis ******
well, as you show....just no education
Burnard ************
@Galenus *****
She indicated an Education Visa. She can do that.

However, when she applies, she needs to ONLY say she is here for education. Nothing about living here with Son. If they ask about family in Thailand, ok. But remember, NOTHING about living here to be with her Son!
Galenus ******
@Burnard ***********
Education? You mean Muay Thai? That's not forever. And she will come together with the little one. Troubles is the program
Burnard ************
@Galenus *****
Learning the Thai language will take -at least - one year. Yeah, coming here with the Son complicates things. But if she is here for education, they cannot just separate the Mother and Child, can they? Nevermind, I know Thai Immigration and they will if they don't have any policies to stop them. But it seems like they should have contingencies for that.

But I want to stress this again. It cannot be stressed enough; The words "I want to live in..." should never come out of her mouth nor anything she writes! She should not even be writing it here in this forum.

ok so not able to get any retirement visa

Not many options for you to get one year. Education visa one of the few
Burnard ************
@Wayne ********
A Real Education Visa where she really shows up for class and really does the work. Thai language Visa is the most useful, for obvious reasons, unless she already knows Thai.

She needs to set that up with the school before applying for the Visa. A real School will probably help with that.
Wayne *********
@Burnard ***********
yes so no good telling me I don't need an Ed visa I have OX

I was really writing to her through you using your post as a reference. Just adding context and more information to your comments.
