TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion centers on the criteria for obtaining a twelve-month visa in Thailand, with a focus on the Education Visa as a primary option. Users suggest that the son has limited options for extending his stay, noting the importance of learning Thai if he wishes to solidify his relationship with a Thai girlfriend. Concerns are raised about ensuring the son is not taken advantage of.

ED visa is his best bet but he then can’t work. If he seriously wants to be with this woman though, learning Thai is a good idea anyway. He can then look for a job and switch visas.
