Hi all, I am seeking an agent in Bangkok, that may be able to assist me in obtaining a retirement visa with multiple entries, (if such a visa exists), as well as a Thai bank account.

PM me if you are able to assist, I will be arriving in Bangkok in Nov.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post seeks advice on obtaining a retirement visa with multiple entries in Bangkok and opening a Thai bank account upon arrival. Several community members recommend contacting the Thai Visa Centre for assistance and suggest applying for a Non-O visa, as it simplifies the process once in Thailand. Discussions also include options to obtain visas from Australian embassies and clarify the current e-visa application process, highlighting the importance of preparing necessary documentation in advance.
NON-O RETIREMENT VISA RESOURCES / SERVICES
  • Go to the Retirement Visa Section for information on requirements, including age restrictions, financial requirements, and necessary documentation.
  • For immediate assistance, contact Thai Visa Centre directly via LINE at @ThaiVisaCentre or Email them.
  • Explore recent discussions by using the Non-O Retirement Visa tag in the search box at the top of the page.
  • Join the Thai Visa Advice Facebook Group to ask your questions, and get advice from others.

Warning! Do not just go to Thailand and then worry about this. Go online and look for the Visa that you like.

I got the DTV visa cause I’m a digital nomad and I try all over the world to work for my company in the United States. You’re looking for the LTR visa, which requires your Social Security and all that other information that you have to show the government that you are self-sufficient.

Mate just come in on a Non O visa from the Thai Embassy in Aussie. Once here head to Thai immigration and get the heads up on what you have to do. You can open a Thai bank account on an O visa. Just go into any branch, I use Bangkok Bank and Krungsri. Both same same. Take ya passport clean clothes, shoes, freshly shaven. Tell 'em you want to open bank account and thanks but you dont want their insurance. Get atm card at same time. Deposit a hefty amount of au dollars. Tell 'em you are looking to purchase a condo. ..and away ya go. Welcome to Thailand. 👌

Why make life difficult for yourself?

If you want a Non-O visa based on retirement get one before you come to Thailand. It will get you stamped in for 90 days and opening a bank account should be straightforward. Transfer the 800k baht into the bank 2 months before applying for a 12 month extension and you're good to go

An alternative would be a Non-OA visa before travelling and you don't need any money in a Thai bank but you do need insurance

I didn't think I was trying to make it difficult, I don't have $800K lying around, that is the equivalent of $30K AUD. I do however meet the income criteria with my super, the only issue I have is proving I do earn that much as I don't get a fortnightly statement just money deposited into my Australian bank account. All I can do is download a statement stating the amount I get paid each fortnight, and of course submit my bank statements, I am able to get these witnessed by a Justice of the Peace, but not sure if that would be sufficient.

it might do for the initial non-o inside Australia but is no good inside Thailand. You can't use income for either the initial non-o or the 1st annual extension from that inside Thailand. I see now why you're looking for an agent but bear in mind you may be stuck using them for years to come

Why should it not be possible to use the income option inside Thailand? As far as I know it should work as long as your embassy gives you a letter to approve your income. Some countries don't do this, but others will.

plenty of people use agents, it's just not easy to get out of that cycle as you can't honour the terms of the extension of stay which requires that the 800k baht is in your account for 2 months before you apply, for 3 months after and never gets below 400k all year. Agents circumvent this, usually by sharing the fee they charge you with others

Has anyone ever experienced racism in Thailand?

Yes, almost daily. Being the only western person in the village, I see heads turning towards me almost every day.

But I’m pretty sure (maybe wishful thinking) that this will reduce once I get more integrated and a more common appearance in the village.

If you respect the Thai people & their culture then you will never have a problem. Maybe stop looking for racism everywhere & it will disappear. I'm so tired of people crying racism, it's getting old. Respect the people and their culture & stop looking for something that's not there.

yes Ning is a good idea , however totally depends on where you live ! According to embassy ( Sydney in this case ,) you have to appear in person ! For myself & many others is a logistical & financial nightmare ! ( 2 flights , taxis , accomodations & living expenses etc) Is cheaper & less frustrating to just get an agent!!

what are you talking about? Both Thai embassies switched to e-visa a while ago. You aren't even allowed in the embassy anymore.

you are no longer required to go there in person, this has been the case since July when they commenced with E-Visa.

Also if you are not a resident of NSW you have to use the E-Visa site which goes via the Canberra embassy.

As
@Brandon ***********
stated, the NSW consulate is only for Thai residents.

I don't know where you get your information, but e-visa is the same in every Thai embassy in the world that has adopted the system. It is ALL online ONLY. You ARE NOT ALLOWED to go to the embassy. Only Thai citizens are allowed in the embassy after e-visa is adopted. The embassy even posted about it and clearly state that it is all done online. You need to get better sources of information.
