TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around finding educational institutions in Thailand that offer the ED visa, which is typically used for learning Thai language or training in Muay Thai. Key points include the visa application process, starting on a 90-day Non-Immigrant ED visa, and then applying for a one-year Extension of Stay Permit for Education. Additionally, there are suggestions regarding a 5-year DTV visa for Muay Thai training, emphasizing financial requirements.

Has there been any changes to the process of completing the visa application at the Thai Embassy of Cambodia? I hope their boarder issues get resolved soon.

Meaux Ov Lumin . . . . what you however can do, is applying for the 5-year DTV on a Muay Thai training seminar from a licensed training camp. For this visa application, among other things, you need to prove you have a minimum of 500,000 THB or equivalent, for a minimum of three months, on a bank account in your name

Meaux Ov Lumin . . there is no one-year Non-imm-ED visa. You need to start out on a 90-days single entry Non-Imm-ED visa with the documentation the language school provides you with, on the E-Visa system outside of Thailand, and once after having entered Thailand on this visa, you can apply for the one-year Extension of the Stay Permit based on Education (ED)

you can't get a Non-Imm-ED visa for online language schools. Immigration is cracking down on these schools. You have to prove that you actually are attending classes personally

you are wrong, there’s a few schools that are approved for online classes. I know because I have my ed-visa from them, and I have photo of immigration officers when getting my stamp every extension.

I'm hoping for the best! Thanks for the info- Imma light some incense and do a rain dance..."Stay AWAY MURPH" I'll visit that school later. Thx- do you guys know of common issues people complain about during the process? The need to complete the visa out of country is gonna make August a turbulent month.

i lived here for 16 years and apparently I know Thailand better than you 😂 Thailand has many rules that is never enforced. And there’s always 3 ways to to anything here, the right way, backdoor way, and the money way. Keep living in your little bubble 😂

now you start whincing, as if I don't know this. I have already worked in Thailand, I have been almost EVERYWHERE in Thailand, the odometer of my car reads 580,000 kilometers. I speak and understand Thai. I have been in Thailand since 1996.

just wait and see what happens. You are free ask any Immigration Volunteer, they will tell you the same. Be very careful with "online schools" - it is illegal to obtain a Non-Imm-ED visa on online classes

you don’t think I checked that first, and you’re partially right but there are a few schools that combine online with onsite education and mine is one of them and the school is approved both by immigration and MOE.

After so many years in Thailand you should know that there is no such thing as a general no or a general yes in Thailand. Many special solutions for everything here. And as I mentioned I meet with immigration once a month at my school to take photos with them, nothing will happen regarding my visa as long as I learn to read and write Thai from a MOE approved school with immigration’s approval.

And I don’t need to ask any volunteers because I have friends in more than one government institution here, immigration included.
