TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster is seeking information about applying for the DTV Visa at the Thai consulate in Penang, Malaysia, but has received minimal response from the consulate. Several commenters advise checking the Thai Embassy's website for requirements and indicate that the Kota Bharu consulate has relevant information. Others suggest verifying whether the Penang consulate is accepting applications for the DTV Visa, given the lack of posted requirements. Some users recommend considering a visit to Kota Bharu instead, while others offer to share updates based on their ongoing inquiries.

I imagine it would be extremely foolish to go to Penang for the DTV without them having the requirements posted on THEIR website

You may want to consider going to KB where the DTV is available.

lemme get this straight,
@Timmy ******
You're going to apply for a visa at a consulate that hasn't even announced they're selling it and has no posted requirements on their website?

What's your nationality? Just bounce out and back to get a 60 day free stamp and wait until it's posted and they're actually selling that visa

It seems that in Malaysia, only the RTC in Kota Bharu has information on their website about the DTV so far:

Sorry if I missed it, but is there any indication about whether only Malaysians can apply for the DTV in KB? Or would citizens of "third countries" (I'm South African) also be able to? Thanks!

Penang won't let South African passport holders apply for ANY visa (and they're not on the list there either)

AND

Kuala Lumpur takes FOUR WEEKS to process a visa application for a South African passport holder

I'd sure CALL Kota Bharu before slogging all the way there thinking you're going to get a visa

Much appreciated!

It is available for all foreigners. South Africa is not on the list of special countries where a background check is required, so you should be fine.

I was just at the Penang Embassy on Tuesday of this week. They said then that they aren't doing it yet. Call beforehand and verify they are accepting applications for it.

Okay thanks bro .As soon as I receive new effective info. I will update .

Well... They did make an announcement on their FB page. But last I checked they have not updated their website yet. On a side note to the DTV... The Penang Consulate still requires people to wear masks inside. So if you go, be prepared with a mask at Entry.

All we can do is refer you to the Thai Embassy website in Kuala Lumpur for their requirements.

Go to Penang would be my view, if helpful.

Exactly it’s a new release Visa,haven’t found any information about who received DTV Visa approval yet from the third country.

@Timmy ******
what is your passport nation?

What is your recent history of staying in Thailand?

KL Thai Embassy can be difficult to obtain a Thai Visa if you have a recent history of entering Thailand and staying with extensions and border bounces.

I see the fee for the DTV visa is on their website, but the requirements for it are not seen Hmmmm 🤔🤔
