What are the application requirements and considerations for a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) for dual Irish and New Zealand citizens planning to apply from Ireland?

Hi there, I’ve been a member of this group for a while and I have some questions regarding applying for a DTV.

- I’m an Irish and New Zealand dual citizen and I will be home in Ireland for a few weeks. I’m planning to apply then for the DTV. Ireland doesn’t have a Thai embassy so I will need to apply in London, but is it necessary that I be present in England when I apply?

- in terms of proving that I’m in Ireland, is an exit stamp and flight booking to Ireland sufficient? I will be staying in my parents house

- lastly, I work for an American company that is a poker coaching company. I do software development for them and get paid an hourly wage ($100/h). I will make clear to them that I am not gambling while I am in Thailand, only doing this software development. Is this likely to result in a failed application? In terms of payment I have my invoices that I sent to them for the last 9 months and I can prove the income into my account (they have paid me both through PayPal and through my bank account)

Thanks for any help

TLDR : Answer Summary
A dual citizen of Ireland and New Zealand seeking to apply for a Thai Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) should apply at the London embassy, as Ireland does not have a Thai diplomatic mission. Personal presence in London is not required; however, being in the UK during the application is necessary. To prove residence in Ireland, providing an exit stamp and a flight booking may not suffice; uploading passport copies along with a utility bill or similar documentation indicating residence is advisable. Furthermore, it is crucial to avoid mentioning involvement in gambling or poker-related activities in the application, as this can significantly increase the risk of rejection. Instead, applicants should emphasize their role in software development for a US company, ensure that their employment certificate reflects a remote working situation, and be prepared to attend a physical interview if requested.

you should NOT mentioned Poker or any gambling activity , it's a big time Red flag in thailand and 99% your application will be rejected...you do not need to be in that country to apply but you should NOT be in thailand also while you apply outside....also make sure to be available in a very short time to go for interview physically.....

Do not state the nature of the business, just the fact you work for the company in software development, your work is remote, you will not interact with any Thai companies or individuals. You'll need an employment certificate specifying those 3 points.

I applied in London - didn’t have to be there - just in UK. I think you will struggle with the entry stamp point - you need a utility bill, or bank statement with your name and address. Not sure about the poker point - I would submit contract etc and see if they ask.

The application is all done online. You are correct that the London embassy handles applications from Ireland but you don’t visit the embassy at all (you’re not even allowed to these days).

As to proving that you’re in Ireland, that may be harder, as you won’t have any entry stamps to prove that you are, but someone living in Ireland wouldn’t either. I believe most just upload copies of their passports and something like a driver’s license or utility bill and the like.

Send them what information/documentation you have. If they want more they’ll ask for it.
