I’m living here for a few years now on a multi entry retirement visa.

I’ve rarely had to do 90 day reports as I usually leave and return before a 90 day report is due.

About 90 days ago I did go to Lao and back. I just went for my 90 day report and was informed that I had violated this rule I’d never heard of.

I was required to check in to my local immigration office within 20 hours of my return from Lao. I think staying in a hotel works too, if they report you to immigration.

The immigration officer here in Sakon let it slide but said the fine would be 5-10k

Any else have to deal with this?

Thanks, Ron

... Feel like such an idiot. I really didn't know that a tourist must also be reported to immigration within 24 hours after arrival for address purposes. I was under the impression that it was only for people coming to work in Thailand. So yesterday 5 Immigration officers walked into my husbands' shop, took us all to Immigration crime center and we got fined for not reporting them within 24-hours. It was quite an embarrassment for the tourists, but never the less, please remember to report your visitors to Immigration to avoid them feeling uncomfortable or like criminals when they are followed to the public toilet 😉😊
