Hi, I need some advice, I have a non-b visa with a single entry that is valid till April 2024. However, I need to travel to AU in March work-related for 2 weeks. Question, is do I need to get a new non-b visa with multiple entries before I leave and can get here or do I need to do a visa run process. Or can I immediately apply for an extension and get a multiple entry stamp?

TLDR : Answer Summary
If you currently hold a Non-B visa with a single entry valid until April 2024 and need to travel to Australia for two weeks in March, there are several options available to you. You can apply for a single re-entry permit for 1000 baht before leaving Thailand, which will allow you to re-enter without having to obtain a new visa. You could also discuss with your employer about applying for a one-year extension based on your employment, which could grant you a re-entry permit for when you return. It's crucial to engage with your employer and local immigration office to clarify your situation and options.

It depends on your employer and the local immigration office if you can apply for an extension based on employee before you leave.

Talk with your employer well in advance.

You may have choices as you mentioned already, and it's your and your employer's decision after you talk with them.

1. You get a single re-entry permit BEFORE you leave Thailand to keep your current stamp alive if you will be back in Thailand within your current stamped date. You enter Thailand on your re-entry permit and apply for a 1-year extension with the documents your employer provides.

2. Apply for a 1-year extension based on employment before you leave with the documents from your employer, and get a re-entry permit (single or multiple) to be back in Thailand.

no you need to BUY a re-entry permit for 1000baht before you go and that will let you leave/return and get stamped in until your current 90 day stamp expires (April)

Then once you're back you can apply for the year extension with documentation from your employer

nope, you can apply for an extension at most offices when you have 30 days or less left on your current stamp AND as a rule Non-B extensions get a 30 day under consideration period.

SO if you applied for the extension BEFORE you left the country and got the 30 day under consideration stamp, you'd need to buy a single re-entry permit so you could leave and come back during those 30 days..

THEN

once you're back you go to the immigration office when the under consideration stamp is up and get the year extension inked in and that's when you would apply for a multiple re-entry permit
