What documents should I submit to prove my income for the Digital Nomad Visa without a formal contract?

Hi everyone 👋

I’m very interested in applying for the new Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) but I have a question about the income/work proof part.

I don’t work for Fiverr/Upwork or any well-known online platform, and I’m not employed by a company. I run my own small e-commerce business that operates in the GCC region (cash on delivery model). My income comes directly from this business, but I don’t have a formal “work contract” with an employer.

Has anyone here successfully applied for the DTV in a similar situation?

👉 What kind of documents did you submit for the “work certificate / sponsorship letter”?

👉 Do they accept a self-declaration + proof of bank transfers or sales invoices, or do they really require a company letter?

Any advice or experience would be super helpful 🙏

I'm currently in Phuket and i plan to apply in Laos

Moroccan Passport

Thanks in advance!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses the challenges of applying for Thailand's Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) as a self-employed individual running an e-commerce business without a formal work contract. The author seeks guidance on acceptable documentation for income proof, specifically asking if a self-declaration and proof of bank transfers is sufficient. Comments suggest creative solutions such as drafting a self-employment letter and seeking examples from others who have navigated similar situations.

if you don't mind gambling 350us$ then go ahead and give it a try but if I were you I'd invest 20k in a 6 month muay thai or cooking course/class.

Why not simply book a qualifying cooking course?

@Pete ******
no one wants to cook food you can order for 60 baht

hardly the point when you are trying to apply for a 5 year visa.

if you have remote income coming in when flying back after 180 days it will be easy to prove your situation is the same and not have to shell out 500 dollars for a new cooking class that you will never go to.

@Peter *******
the workcation option has onerous documentation requirements which are frequently rejected, a simple cooking course is by far the easiest option.

that's not even true. do you own a cooking school or your girl does?

Write your own letter of employment from yourself to yourself explaining your work and specifically that you are able to work remotely in Thailand but not for any thais or Thai companies and sign it yourself

Lots of others have done the same
