TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion centers around whether expats in Thailand should keep their life and health insurance while living abroad. Many comments express concerns about insurance coverage, particularly for those who rely on Medicare, which does not cover Thailand. Users share experiences with life insurance policies from various countries, including the UK and the US, and some reveal that insurance obtained in their home countries may not be valid upon relocating to Thailand. Recommendations for comprehensive health insurance that covers emergencies and hospital visits are also sought, especially by older expats.
Keep everything, choose the Medicare C, choose the company that would cover around the world.

From UK hence no medical plan. Hadn’t taken out life insurance either. In Thailand, Thai Mrs is concerned about my becoming alcoholic and leaving her with my funeral bill. She took out a 20 year Life Insurance plan with Thai Life. If I survive until 86 all monthly premiums are refunded plus a bonus.
Including the hospital and emergency surgery ? I'm 65 from US currently I only have Medicare in US . Not covered the Thailand as you know .please let me know
Chang Wada, Bangkok Bank, does the insurance policies.

Ref life insurance I am from the UK and I had a life insurance policy for years. But when I moved out here I took out a new insurance just before coming out here, I explained to the Brooker that I am in the UK for 2 more months then moving full time to Thailand he understood that and said that's ok so I bought the insurance. A little bit later I was talking with a financial advisor out here and I had to tell him my life store so to speak and life insurance was mentioned. He said did I take it in the UK (Yes) he said it'll not be worth anything and they not pay out as you are now living full time away from the UK. I contacted the insurance company (can't remember who) and they said that it shouldn't have been sold to you in the first place, and they refunded me all the money. So I would ask you insurance in the UK or wherever if you take it out in that country is it valid in Thailand.
