I'd like to stay in Thailand for a few months starting around December. (Possibly longer than 90 days and i don't have a ticket yet). I'm going to Mexico City for a long weekend. Should I attempt to get a visa at the Thai embassy or just get one on arrival?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion focuses on whether to apply for a Thai visa at the embassy or opt for a visa on arrival for a stay longer than 90 days. It highlights that the traveler likely does not qualify for a visa on arrival and could instead consider a 30-day visa exemption with a possible 30-day extension. It is suggested to apply for a 90-day visa before traveling, especially since the traveler may be in Mexico City.

Apply for a 90 day visa before you travel. Not expensive

It looks like you are a US citizen living in Cholula, so you want to utilize the Thai embassy in the DF, rather than go to the US.

There are visas for more than 60 days, but you can't pick one up over the weekend.

The Thai consulate in Los Angeles is pretty efficient. You can start the process online with a U.S. address.

Depends on where they live. Your state of residence will determine the consulate you use.

I doubt you qualify for visa on arrival. You might qualify for visa exempt which is a 30 day stamp and you can apply one time for a 30 day extension, giving you 60 days in total. Whether you have enough time to apply for a visa while you're in Mexico city depends on the policies of the embassy there. No Thai embassy processed visas the same day you apply.
