TLDR : Answer Summary
A 5-day overstay in Thailand, for which fines were paid, is generally not considered severe and is unlikely to affect your chances of re-entry. However, it's recommended to apply for a tourist visa in advance to ensure a smoother entry process. Many community members suggested securing a 60-day tourist visa to avoid any risk or complications at immigration, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a perfect immigration record to prevent potential issues. Ultimately, the decision rests on individual comfort levels regarding immigration encounters.
Do you have a DTV or did you last arrive on a 60 day visa exemption. How long are you planning to stay, do you have a confirmed onward flight or return flight home? 5 day overstay is not good, never over stay, keep a perfect record. If you happen to get arrested it could easily count against you.
Always remember..keep a perfect immigration record and never have any problems. Anyway up to you
