Should I apply for a Non-Imm O visa now or wait for the Covid amnesty to end?

I entered Bangkok on a 90 day TR visa valid until 16th June. Entry stamp says “Admit until 17th May. Having previously had Non-Imm O visas, since expired, my intension was, is, to re-apply for the Non-Imm O.

I was intending to start the process next week, but now with the Covid amnesty being extended until 31st July, I wonder whether it is necessary to do it in the intended time, or hold off until June, thus taking advantage of an extended visa time. Thanks

Either way matters not too much, I don’t want to implicate myself in “using” the system which may be detrimental later on.

I have the required bank funds, bank letter etc.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is currently on a 90-day TR visa in Thailand and is considering applying for a Non-Imm O visa, potentially delaying the application until after June to take advantage of the extended Covid amnesty. They seek advice on whether to proceed with their application now or wait.

DO NOT fool with this b/s amnesty scheme. If you can meet the requirements, GO an apply for the 90 day Non-O visa like you were going to do.

IGNORE the amnesty, just stay on track for getting the 90 day Non-O and then the year extension

Its up to you at this time when you wish to make application for the one year Non O to Extension of Stay for retired age 50+ ..

I would suggest you stop by your immigration office to get current list of requirements for your extension.

Might be wise to do it in mid June...at least 6 weeks before the end of the July 31 Amnesty extension program. as Immigration offices may be swamped in August.

It takes at least 30 days to obtain the Non O and the extension of stay for one year.

Good luck...

Stay safe.
