Trying to learn about the 'Cat O Non-Immigrant' visa, but on the uk EVisa site i'm seeing only 'Living With Thai Family in Thailand' under long-term stay. I'm probably to blame, but is the Cat O difficult to land on in the EVisa site ? Thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The Cat O Non-Immigrant visa, categorized as a 'Non-O' visa, is often misunderstood. It's important to note that it is not a long-stay visa but rather a 90-day visa that can be extended in Thailand. The Non-O visa encompasses various situations including retirement, marriage to a Thai citizen, or having a Thai child. The confusion may stem from the EVisa site, which primarily lists long-term stay options like 'Living With Thai Family in Thailand' without clearly detailing the Cat O visa specifics. Further clarification about the purpose and requirements of the Non-O visa can assist in navigating the application process.

The non-o is not a longstay visa.

It is a 90 day visa that is extendable in Thailand.

Non-O visa based on WHAT? O means "other" and it covers MANY things. Retirement, volunteering, marriage, Thai child, etc. What type of visa are you talking about?

From the EVisa website : 'Non-Immigrant Type O (Visiting or staying with applicant's family resided in Thailand (more than 60 days) - single entry only)' Is that the visa for someone who wants to get the 12-month extension after the Cat O, to live with Thai wife, but NOT with Thai Family, never!

Thanks. I would not be able to get Health insurance (too ancient, too unwell ๐Ÿ™‚) - so a crucial issue : is the Marriage route not needing that compulsory insurance, and the Retirement route does ? Thanks.

non-O for retirement or marriage do not require insurance. It's only the non-OA that requires insurance.

It wil be either Retirement or Married to Thai national. I was in and out of Thailand for 8 years between 2008 and 2016 on the Non-O Multiple Entry 12-month visa (border bounce every 90 days), but i realise that's gone so just trying to update my knowledge.
