Posting a not-so-great experience, which hopefully might help a few other people to avoid. I have been waiting for funds to arrive from Australia, in order to apply for a non-O and after that, a retirement visa. The funds took longer than expected, and my "15 day" deadline for applying arrived.
My current visa is 60+30 days; I was told that i may be able to get an extra 7 day extension. So off I went to Immigration, and HOORAY!! - I got the extra 7 days. Plenty of time now for the money to arrive and apply for that non-O. Ah. No. I explained at Immigration that I just needed a few more days, and I would be applying for a non-O. What I was NOT aware nor informed of, was that after two visa extensions, you cannot apply for a change of visa. I found that out 10 mins too late.
Good luck to everyone else, hope this helps someone !

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user shares their experience with applying for a non-O visa in Thailand, detailing delays in receiving funds from Australia and unexpected issues during the visa extension process. Despite receiving a 7-day extension on their visa, they learned too late that having extended their stay twice precluded them from changing their visa. The post serves as a cautionary tale for other expats facing similar challenges.

So you need 15 days, you started with 60 days then extended that with 30 days, waited a few days more, applied for a second Extension of Stay which is not available, got a non approved and 7 days to leave the country. And you try now to explain you need just a few days more than the 90 days you had to organize this application.
Regulations are changing so fast it is a little hard to be "organised". Getting factual info on what is possible and what is not is also very difficult. I am thankful for this great page for sharing such info and helping each other out. Right or wrong, organised or not - i am posting in the hope that my experience might help other people who may be under the same misunderstandings of the rules.
