Hi everyone,

I applied for my 2 months e-visa for thailand but haven’t received it yet.

I would like to cross in from Malaysia on January the 2nd but i don’t know if it will be granted yet. It’s been already two weeks and i didn’t get anything yet. I know that i can get a 30 days for free at the border but I wouldn’t like to waste my two months.

Do you think if i get to the thai border and show the visa application they will grant me the two months? What is my best option?

Thanks everyone

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is facing a delay in receiving their 2-month e-visa for Thailand, which they applied for two weeks ago. They plan to cross from Malaysia on January 2nd but are uncertain if the visa will arrive in time. They are exploring their options, including entering Thailand on a 30-day visa exemption and what to do if their e-visa arrives after they have already entered. Community members suggest entering on the 30-day exemption and later activating the e-visa when it arrives.

From the Thai Embassy in US, it takes 2 weeks (10 business days). I imagine it would be longer during the holidays. I imagine the same is true for whichever embassy you applied.

Your options are probably, wait until you get the visa or cross without it.

No if you don’t get it in time enter on the 30 day exempt stamp you can extend for 30 more for 1900 the exit and re enter on the e visa and you can extend that for 30 so you’ll get almost 5 months

The E-Visa is causing problems worldwide due to late processing and request for documents already sent, it’s causes flight cancellation and additional cost to rebook flights.Personal experience.

100% no. But you can enter 30 day exempt and then leave again once you receive your TV. You can then activate the TV

it's highly unlikely that visa will ever arrive as he applied for it using the e-visa system while in Malaysia. The way to get a visa inside Malaysia is via one of the Thai consulates, it doesn't participate in the e-visa system

to activate it should i go out of the country and at the border activate it again?

@Stefano **********
yes. If you enter Thailand before you have the tourist visa, you cannot activate it from inside the country. Need to exit and return, can activate when you re-enter.

If you're in Malaysia, Malaysia doesn't participate in evisa.

i mean, i appmied through the evida italian system while i was already in malaysia

@Stefano **********
you can't do that. You must apply through the embassy or consulate where you physically are. The application even says this. It's likely your application is going to be denied. If you want to apply in Malaysia you just submit an application in person at one of the consulates in Malaysia.

in case your Tourist Visa arrives in your email after you already entered Thailand visa-exempt and got stamped in for 30 days, you can extend one time for 1900.- THB for 30 more days. Before they are over, just do a border bounce and activate the 60 days stay permit of your Tourist Visa (keep in mind that a TR visa must be used for an entry within 3 months from its date of issue)
