Does anyone know if they will start doing “visa waver” again? I heard they brought back “visa on arrival” but don’t know about the waver.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The visa exemption or waiver for entering Thailand has been active for some time, having been reinstated around November of the previous year. Travelers can now enter Thailand under the visa-exempt category, which allows for 30 days on arrival, with an option for a one-time 30-day extension. To enter Thailand, a Certificate of Entry (CoE) from a Thai Embassy is also required. It's important to note that the processing of visas issued outside of Thailand is handled by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while extensions and visas issued within the country are managed by the Immigration Bureau, which do not communicate with each other.

I think the OP got the answers he's looking for, so I'm closing comments.

Look at this chart:

to see if your country is on a visa on arrival, visa exempt, or bilateral agreement. Thank you.

IMPORTANT REMINDER:

Visas that are issued outside of Thailand are processed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Extension of stays and visas that are issued INSIDE Thailand are processed by the Immigration Bureau.

These are TWO different agencies that do not communicate with each other. DO NOT trust a consulate on the advice on how to get an extension of stay, and DO NOT trust an immigration office on their advice on how to get a visa outside of the country.

Thank you

Visa exempt entry gives you 30 days on arrival plus one extension of 30 days at Thai immigration for 1,900 Thsi baht = 60 days max stay in Thailand.

You will need to have a CoE certificate of entry from your Thai Embassy to enter Thailand.
