Is it still possible to get a 12 month multi entry non-o based on marriage visa? Last year I got this from Savannakhet. I've looked on the Savannakhet website and also on this new e-visa website and there is no mention of this. It only details a single entry non o 90 day visa. Thanks in advance for any responses.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The 12-month multi-entry Non-O visa based on marriage is no longer available as of July 2024. Previously available at the Royal Thai Consulate in Savannakhet, this option was discontinued when the e-visa system was implemented. Currently, individuals may obtain a Non-O visa for 90 days upon arrival, but must then apply for a one-year extension at a local immigration office, meeting specific financial requirements. Alternatives include a 6-month Multi-Entry Tourist Visa (METV), long-term residence visas, or utilizing family visit extensions.

There are more than a few people on FIFO or rotational work schedules where the year-long, multi-entry Non-O based on marriage was the perfect fit but who got caught out when they stopped year-long, multiz. π
Some options as people said, would be 6 month METV (mult-entry tourist visa) the DTV (Destination Thailand Visa), a Non-OA or Non-OX (if you're over 50), the LTR (Long Term Residence) visa, or Preferred Entry (Elite Visa)
OR
You coordinate your work for a 3 month period to be able to get in and out of thailand at the right time to pull off going from a Non-O 90 day entry to a year extension at your immigration office and once you get that you get a multiple re-entry permit . ..
thanks for that information it's very helpful. I will look at applying for one of these next year. One more question is it possible to come in to Thailand using the Visa exempt route and then apply for the extension married to a thai at your local immigration office?
not until you FIRST have a Non-O visa so if you came in visa exempt you'd have to first apply for the 90 day Non-O visa, wait the 2 weeks under review for that, get it inked in, wait the 2 months to apply for the year extension after that
There is one other option that might suit your situation if you donβt mind spending the money and that is you could get a Thailand Elite visa. 5 or 10 years available. Multiple entry so come and go as you please.

So, in my case. I travel in and out of Thailand on a monthly basis for work. Over the past years ive been using the Multi Entry Non O. Due to my work commitments it's not possible for me to have
*****
days or less remaining in my current stamp because im only ever in the country for 30 days, not 90. What options does this leave me with?
I'm in a similar situation to you, I work on ships with an irregular rotation. I ended up applying and receiving a remote worker DTV while on holiday in Sydney Aus.
you got limited options then, you'd have to show up on a 90 day Non-O, get 90 days, get a re-entry permit, get BACK in the country before that original 90 days ran out, apply for the year extension, get an under consideration stamp, get another re-entry permit, get BACK in the country before that under consideration ran out to get the year, THEN buy a multiple re-entry permit so you could travel the rest of the year
It'd take a LOT of coordination on your part to not run yourself off the rails time wise
can the Non-O 90 day visa be applied for, processed and approved completely online now without a need for any embassy/consulate visits? I am in the same boat as
we have a similar work situation 4 weeks at home and usually 4 weeks working away offshore.

Wayne Roycroft every thai consulate in the world is online eVisa system.
You login, apply, upload your documentation, and at most you even pay online. You never go to a consulate to get a hard stamp or a sticker, the Visa is emailed to you by a PDF file if/when it's approved..
reality is that you need to get the Non O Visa as Married to Thai and the One year extension of stay as Married to Thai. Need to have 400,000 Thai baht in your personal Thai bank account. And meet the requirements for the visa and extension as set by your local Thai Immigration office.
i can meet all the requirements, I just cannot take 3 months off work to get an extension of stay. Appreciate the advice on DTV but im not joining a Muay Thai class for the next 30 years to see my wife and kids π€£

Also suggest you look at the New DTV Visa... it's a 5 year multiple entry visa. Either workcation or Soft Power activity to get it. Muay Thai training is popular.

Savannakhet discontinued issuing the 365-days multi entry Non-Imm-Family Visa when they went to the e-visa online system by January 2025. The Royal Thai Consulate in Savannakhet was the last one to offer this visa category. Other embassies had already discontinued issuing it by October 30 2023
got mine in August 2024. Which is why I was disappointed 12 months later to see they've scrapped the 12 month multi entry option π. Nothing is simple with Thailand visas.
once you get a year extension of stay granted by the immigration office where you live you CAN indeed buy a re-entry permit (single 1000baht multiple 3800 baht) and that will let you exit/re-enter for the validity of the year extension
Thank you! I thought that was the case. For a minute there I thought the Non O based on marriage was like checking into The Hotel California where you can check in but never leave π

There's one other option available to you if you need ADDED time to get the funds deposited in your Thai bank account...
The Family Visit Extension... gives you a 60 day extension of stay. One time only per entry into Thailand. 1,900 Thai baht fee.
can this extension for visiting Thai family be applied for when entering Thailand using the Visa exempt method? My 12 month non o based on marriage expires next month so I was planning for another visit to Savannakhet to get another. But the news of the scrapping of the 12 month multi entry has made the situation a whole lot more difficult now.
