Is proof of income required for a soft power visa in Thailand?

For those of you who applied soft power in Hanoi were you asked for proof of income? I can't really tell if this is an informal requirement or not. I have ~650k in savings but I'm currently unemployed and unsure if this is an issue. In my free time I would like to pick up some freelance work but don't currently have any clients or paystubs.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The consensus among respondents is that proof of income is not formally required for obtaining a soft power visa in Thailand. However, it is advisable to have a plan to demonstrate financial self-support, such as showing savings or other income sources like dividends or pensions, in case the embassy inquires. Unemployment may not be an issue if one can provide a credible plan for financial sustainability.

sometime they just ask for supporting document that you have plan to support your self in thailand.

If you have evidence that you have income from stock dividend, pension or just rich parents you should be prepared to submit those document when asked.

if you do not have such evidence you should have some plan to tell embassy how to support your self for 5 years.

This is not formal requirement but if the embassy just curious and you do not have supporting evidence your visa will be rejected
