I am freelancer but I never had customer yet, can I still apply for DTV?

I have required amount in bank account and have experience in my field but I'm starting my freelance activities and want to go Thailand on DTV. Are they gonna ask me proof that I have customer or is it not required?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The DTV (Digital Nomad Visa) application process requires proof of being a legitimate remote worker. While having the necessary funds in your bank account is important, you may also need to provide evidence such as invoices, bank statements, and client reviews. If you do not have clients yet, you might face challenges in proving that your freelance work is genuine and financially sustainable. It is suggested to explore other visa options that do not have strict income and employment requirements.

Hi,

I had to submit invoices sent to clients for October and my bank statement with the payments of the invoices received. Plus up to date company documents and my Upwork profile with customer reviews. They really check that your activity is genuine and that it generates enough income to live. I don't think it would be accepted in your case.

Hi Stef, where did you apply?

I would say you’re better off going down the soft power route. There are no income / employment requirements, you just need the 500k baht so you should be good to go πŸ‘

doesn't soft power cost a ton of money? like getting muay thai camp for example

Anonymous participant 23k baht for 6 months, for me I think it’s good πŸ‘ I think Thai cooking is cheaper but how many dishes do you need to learn in 5 years 🀣

Anonymer Teilnehmer a 5-year DTV compared with a 5-year ELITE - we talk about the DTV visa fee plus 6 Muay Thai course costs of maximum $1000.- US. Compared to this, a 5-year ELITE visa will set you back $26,500.- US . . . . talking about tons of money?

Anonymer Teilnehmer πŸ˜„ if the costs of 15.000 - 17.500.- Baht for a 2-3 months Muay Thai course that will give you all the documentation for the DTV application, are deemed too expensive for you, I wouldn't even think about living in Thailand, matey. Thailand is too expensive for you πŸ˜‰ Moreover because you will become a tax resident when staying longer than 180 days within a calendar year.

Yes they can ask for proof of customers, contracts and to show the customers are real they can check for payment or that you have paid tax. Apply for a DTV by all means but forget the workation reason and use one of the soft power options

Suggest you find another reason for the DTV visa.

Got client yet not the issue, Main criteria were the evidence to declare you are remote worker
James ********
@Anan *******
no portfolio to show or contacts with clients outside of Thailand, nor ok income from digital nomad services. Unlikely to get the DTV visa.

@Anan *******
suggest that you look at enrolling in a Muay Thai training school for the DTV Visa.
Anan ********
Or use soft power options instead
