Is it true that Immigration in Penang requires a plane ticket to your home country instead of just one out of Thailand?

a well respected & known agent in Penang, has conveyed this information to my brother in the last 3 months, 200 SETV’s via agents (collectively) issued per day. Hence the message from Jim recently reiterating the need for everyone to have documentation in order & not have extensive SETV history without further scrutiny being initiated. The agents don’t want all their clients being rejected.

I don't know that I'd go so far as to say they are limiting the number of visas issued daily.

I think there is a gradual tightening up of the visa rules (which isn't a bad thing) and more and more consulates are requiring proof of funds, proof of onward travel and proof of a hotel booking to issue tourist visas.

AFAIK: they are only taking a hard stance in Penang on people who have multiple back-2-back tourist visas in their passport.

, It seems they are only asking for proof of onward travel to your home country if you have a history of back to back visas to thailand in your passport. Most people who don't live here on tourist visas are okay.
